What distinction are you making there?
Anarchist vs minarchist.
What distinction are you making there?
whats wrong with anarcho-capitalism
Anarchist vs minarchist.
Minarchists still believe in having some services handled by government. I don't know that you could consider that economic anarchism as much as limited government. As far as I would define economic anarchism that still means no government.
Yeah, I looking back at the posts in question, my post may have been redundant. I just wanted to point out that Molyneux has rejected his former position of minarchism and adopted anarchism.
I listen to a little bit of his stuff, but I never knew he was an actual minarchist....
You or Thames I think mentioned how he called for people to drive their friends and family away if they couldn't accept the position of anarchism. As an voluntarist myself, I thought that was a little sleazy of a stance to promote, and seemed quite cultish.
I don't watch late night talk shows so I'm in the dark here. Am I to understand that Fallon had Trump on his show and people are complaining that he was too nice to him? Like just random internet people or journalists?
Idk a lot of leftists somehow thought he was 'one of them' and his show some sort of court or whatever and that he -as a talk show host- should have held Trump accountable "for his crimes". They even bashed this uber-shill Colbert for the same reason
You're confused. The only way for anarchism to exist is in the frame of a capitalist system. However the original anarchists wanted to frame the idea is irrelevant to how society would actually organize itself in the absence of government. People are inherently cooperative, not altruistic.
It's also interesting that you draw on solitude for the motivation of many of its advocates, because it's message is based off of maximum cooperation while abstaining from using any kind of aggression.
Initially it was called 'Memes which trigger leftists' , then (of course) leftists got triggered, bitched about how it's not funny and spammed their own memes in the thread, thread was renamed to 'the meme thread' to not hurt their feelings.
Both. He is being told now he is not funny and blah blah blah. Im Republican and i love Jimmy Fallon. He just seems like a chill dude.
I see no need to pick apart this silly ideology for the 100th time, so let me make som other points instaed.
If you want to leave out how the people who created the movement defined it (fits well with the intellectual merit of your ideology), then there still remains the observation that words have meaning.
Anarchy stems from the latin/greek word anarchia which means "without ruler", and is antonymous to the word "hierarchy". Hence why anarchists at their core seek a society without hierarchy (or more narrowly - elimination of a class hierarchy). It's that simple.
If you have capitalism, then you have private property (which in reality can only be enforced/granted by a state, but let's not let that fact get in the way), and if you have private property then you have..... Hierachy! Hence why anarcho-capitalism is an oxymoron.
By only eliminating the state, you are only eliminating a fraction of the hierachy in society (if regulation free capitalism every became reality, then you would at best create a society akin to a medieval feudal system - it doesn't get much more hierarchical than that), and real anarchists (like communists) see the state as the very tool to eliminate the hierachy in society, and should be the last hierarchical institution to be eliminated.
Both anarcho-capitalism and Marxism are theories that advocate for an unrelastic utopia, which is based on extremely far fetched prediction on human behaviour, but at least Marxism had intellectual substance, that certainly can't be said for the ideology you adhere to.
He does seem like a nice guy, I just don't dig his sycophantic style. Plus those shows are all trash. I don't care what celebrities are plugging.
Yes I'm taking out their misapplication of what society looks like in the absence of government. They may very well have created the idea of no government. That doesn't mean their description of what that kind of society looks like is also accurate. Anarcho-capitalism is just a refinement of the original anarchist's idea that's more parallel to reality.
Also the absence of a ruler is not synonymous with the absence of hierarchy. A ruler implies coercion, and that's precisely why anarcho-communism is the oxymoron here, because it requires ubiquitous compulsion to sustain itself. Hierarchies can operate off of mutual agreements that don't necessitate the classification of a "ruler".
