Ariel made a noble stand at the conference but ultimately what's he going to do? He's going to cover 200 and help drive sales like always. Why though? He owes the UFC nothing. He could argue however, that THEY owe HIM fights that are worthy of his services promoting them, free of charge and to far greater effect than this $10m ad.

A Conor fight makes not just the UFC more money but also everyone involved in covering the event professionally wins. Web traffic, youtube hits, all through the roof when Conor fights. Dana pulling Conor is quite literally hitting these journalists in their pockets.

Soccer journalists cover the major teams and players, many golf journalists wouldn't bother covering a tournament without Tiger. Yet the UFC are in this unique position of saying here's 198, that's 200, go cover it. Dennis Siver could headline and they would be in attendance. It is a very unusual stranglehold on the media that no other sport has. They could say stop this petty bullshit and give us the fight we want or we will enforce a media blackout. It is our livelihoods at stake here. They are in a far more powerful position than the athletes.

Ariel is paid by a third party to cover the event. If he boycotts the event, he probably doesn't get paid as much. As up in arms as most of you are about Conor screwing himself with a dunce level power move, the rest of the world will keep turning and other people will need to get paid. Whether you acknowledge it or not, UFC 200 is a milestone event. It will be covered. It will make sense to cover it.

The fighters will show up. They will fight. Everything will proceed as normal.

Dont worry the casual media which most ppl watch wont cover it if conor is not on it.

I wish you would refuse to have dumb ass opinions.

I also believe that mcdonalds should stop selling burguers in protest.

Conor and Nate should box each other for charity on the night of UFC 200 to piss Dana off.

The UFC does lots wrong, but in this instance Conor is to blame.

How many threads do we need on your undying love for one fighter, and not MMA as a whole? Do people not learn how to think rationally anymore?

that goof dana holding ariel and the rest of the media at gunpoint forcing them to cover a shit card.. we need to stop him!

You should refuse to post threads about UFC 200 from now on. You know.....as protest.

Yeah. That would be cool. And you know what nobody here in America should vote for president or pay taxes. We will show them.

Good post TS.
What the fuck planet do you live on.

That is about as logical as the UFC and Conor's stances on this situation. Why don't people understand that when they solve a situation like this everyone profits... I think the UFC is being less unreasonable but both sides are being crazy because both sides are turning down a ton of money because of an infantile fight. The media will not and should not boycott this event, it would lose them money.
