Yea, her facial expression was pretty much the same in every scene. Over confident, yet bland/flat, with a slight head turn to emphasize her over confidence.

Then she was miscast, because there is a way to portray stoicism in a way that's still charismatic

Again, shes a talented actress but Marvel didnt really put her in a role that show based her talent

If i had to guess this was her agent talking her into taking this role.

She probably had many opportunities to see big franchise scripts for super hero female characters and just passed on them all. Then you see Gal and Emily making bank in these type roles.

She begrudgingly took the role, seeing herself as more of an indy gal and she certainly was not going to act like she needed this role or that it was defining her.

Heck even in her interactions with the media and the rest of the marvel family she seems so flat and unappreciative. Most of the actors say how great it is to be part of the Marvel family. How big and awesome these movies are. And she just seems to be saying 'm'eh'.

Ya I am doing lots of speculating here but something just seemed off, especially since she is known to be a good actress with an A game, that we just did not see, in this role.

Did they figure out what common thread it'll have with the other movies and streaming shows or is it standalone?

I hope they put some muscles on her for the sequel.

Go win some fans, Brie Larson.

I hope they give her personality a makeover. She's just kind of bland in the first movie.

What was weird is they had Fury in the first movie and he played the role of goofy sidekick. Nick Fury.

Will watch. Haven't missed a single MCU film yet and I am not planning on missing any...

Will probably make another billion dollars worldwide and piss off a bunch of anti-SJW dorks.

these bewbs and the slit in this dress is how we creampie our way into paying alimony/child support to a toxic(bitchy) personality like brie

you wish you could be with a Brie Larson type. This particular one is worth $10 million. Unless you are worth more she'll be paying you alimony buddy.

well i like the Skrull, but there can’t be the Super Skrull until they introduce the Fantastic Four. maybe they will start inching towards that since they’re continuing the Capt Marvel story, which i can only assume will involve the Skrull, right?

The first one was good. The Skrull stuff feels fresh still and I enjoy where they’re going with it. Oddly, she’s probably the weakest part of the series. The surrounding stuff is all pretty neat, with the Kree and so on.
I think they can work on her characterization. And hopefully her overpoweredness, if that's a word? Or at least have an antagonist in her league.

What's unfortunate about the sequel is that it won't be a period film. Young happy Fury was a trip.

Isn't he old happy Fury now hanging out with the Skrulls and not having to do Shield bullshit?

First one was between "meh" and "totally sucks". Sam mofo Jackson was the only good part of it. I have no doubts the sequel will suck too.
Can't believe they made my boy Thor say "I like this one."

I had high hopes for Brie Larson. But her portrayal of the character was as bland as it gets. Bad acting and lack of charisma aside, even her hair in Endgame is "I'd like to talk to you manager" level of bitchy.

Candyman Sequel Filmmaker Nia DaCosta to Direct CAPTAIN MARVEL 2

Nia DaCosta is already helping revive a '90s property with her take on MGM and Universal's upcoming Candyman. Now the filmmaker is taking on the sequel to Marvel Studios' '90s-set movie Captain Marvel, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Megan McDonnell, a writer on the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series WandaVision, is penning the script for the sequel, which will once again star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, fighter pilot turned superhero.

Captain Marvel 2 has a July 8, 2022 release date.

The first Captain Marvel opened in March 2019 and went on to earn $1.1 billion globally and helped lead into Avengers: Endgame. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed. The cast also included Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening, Gemma Chan and Lashana Lynch, whose onscreen daughter Monica Rambeau will appear in WandaVision (this time as an adult and played by Candyman actor Teyonah Parris).

DaCosta broke out with her debut feature Little Woods, which starred Tessa Thompson and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2018. Her Candyman film, which she co-wrote with Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld, was initially supposed to debut June 12, but has been delayed by COVID-19 to Oct. 16. It has still managed to stir cultural conversation, thanks to a socially relevant teaser that earned praise when it was released in June.
