The last time Nick Diaz won a fight

What an original thought.

Was against BJ penn who if i am not mistaken beat Hughes and went to a draw with Fitch coming into the fight with Nick.

They're not underappreciated, they were just overrated for so long I think people got sick of it
But they really weren’t lol people just hated the fact that people like them. Their fights are typically exciting They’re literally rooted against in every single one of their fights on here because a lot of y’all despise their fans so when they do win sherdog ignores it.

The year was 2011. It was a simpler time: Barack Obama was settling into his first term as President, global pandemics were things of the distant past that you read about in history books, and being "woke" simply meant waking up in the morning.

In the UFC world, GSP and Anderson were in the midst of their lengthy reigns of dominance, the WEC had just been purchased adding the new FLW/BW/FW divisions to the UFC, and Dana was still insistent that women would never fight in the UFC.

On Oct 29, 2011, Nick Diaz went to war with BJ Penn and got his hand raised after a 15 min Fight of the Night battle. Little did fight fans know, that that would be the last time we would see Nick Diaz get a W- At least until now, a decade later, when Nick is talking about a potential return to the Octagon. Let's take some time to take a look back at the world in October 2011:

Someone Like You by Adele was the #1 song in the world (and Adele was still fat)

LeBron James was coming off his first year with the Heat, losing in the finals to the Mavs. LeBron had never won an NBA championship at that point and people were still questioning whether he ever would (he's won 4 now).

The final Harry Potter film was the number 1 box office movie of the year. As of this point, a "Marvel Cinematic Universe" movie had yet to be #1 at the box office for a year. That would all change going forward, as a Marvel movie would be #1 in each of the next 3 years, and 5 of the following 8.

*this thread was made for fun and I'm a big Nick Diaz fan and excited to see him fight again, even if he hasn't won a fight in a full decade.
Cool history lesson!

The problem was they really weren't winning consistently, and whenever they lost there would be a ton of threads/people yelling about point fighting, they just ran out of time, people just want to wrestle them, blah blah blah. There were/are a lot of people that couldn't admit their very obvious ceilings as fighters

I don't see Diaz beating anyone in the UFC right now, unless they brought CM Punk back in.

Dude is a legend, but so much time has passed, and there were people who have him problems even back then.

He'll be another BJ Penn. Tough as nails, but outmatched.

Thank You. I feel like I learned so much :)

Well you were mocking my typo. And quite literally quoted me. So yes I would expect an @ and an original joke directed at me. Like TS which was funny and why I laughed. You just came off like a weirdo English teacher dude
Just having fun @ x factor . Enjoy fitness this weekend

The last time that Nick Diaz won a fight-

Jon Jones was UFC Champion
Jose Aldo was fighting for a UFC Title
Lebron James was in the NBA finals
Tom Brady was getting ready to play in another Super Bowl.

All those things happened in 2020 as well, not much has changed bro.
A testament to the longevity of those 4 incredible athletes!

Unfortunately Jones and Aldo's days as champs are likely over. Brady on the other hand... he might still be a Super Bowl champ when I make a follow up thread in 2031.
