The idiotic UFC matchmakers strike again with Romero/Costa.

They want to put the two most impressive looking physiques up against each other.

Also, Romero has already lost two title shots.. odds are against him getting another title shot, so they don’t care about his career anymore.

For those saying this is too big a step up for Costa, consider Yoel's rise to the elite of the division: stoolgate vs Kennedy followed by destroying a washed and broken Machida, then immediate jump to Jacare who was on an 8 fight winning streak. Yoel won a controversial split decision where he was fence grabbing (12/17 media outlets scored it for Jacare, 3/17 scored it a draw) then pissed hot after the fight (it was found to be tainted supplements but the fact remains he was "enhanced" for the fight). After that he still got the UFC push into elite status and fought #2 ranked Weidman in what at the time was expected to be a #1 contender fight but Bisping's fuckery derailed all that

Once there Yoel would prove that he did indeed belong in the elite of the class, but his road to that status was very controversial and highly backed by a UFC push very similar to the push Costa is getting. Yoel is currently coming off a loss and riding a losing record in the past 2+ years but he's (rightfully) a big name still; a Yoel/Costa fight right now is perfect timing and great matchmaking imo

Stupid thread imo. The fight was made because it's a good match up. I would hate for the UFC to take on boxing's model where they put on a bunch of squash matches to build a fighter up, and the best fighters end up avoiding each other.

His fault taking the first two rounds off. Then giving up the 4th. It could have been a draw but Whittaker did well enough to avoid the 10/8.
you think whittaker did well enough to avoid a 10-8 in round 5?

I'm VERY sorry but that round was closer to a 10-7 than a 10-9.

Ummmm, they might be trying to appeal to the heterosexual female audience with this matchup
