Ya'll musta forgot performances are some of my favourite type of performances. When a fighter is thought to be permanently broken or washed up, but comes back with a vintage performance to shut us all up.

The first that comes to mind:

Aldo vs. Edgar 2.
After Conor slept Aldo in 13 seconds there was talks about USADA ruining Nova Uniao, that Conor ruined Aldo's chin and that his spirit was broken forever. Edgar was streaking and in his prime. He was also the favourite to beat Aldo.

The King of Rio big brothered Edgar for 25 minutes and reminded us all.

Aldo has another "Ya'll musta forgot performance" in his victory over Stephens. The tale was pretty much the same, but worse, because he was coming off two bad beatings from Holloway and was older this time, while Stephens was looking impressive at the time.

Other great yall musta forgot performances?

Cruz over Dillashaw is another good one. Alot of hardcore fans actually picked Cruz to win, which was fucking crazy to me.

TJ seemed to me like the more refined striker, took some elements of Cruz game and perfected it for his own style, younger and frankly more impressive. And um yeah, Cruz was coming off a 2.5 year layoff due to a string of bad KNEE injuries.

I really did forget how great Cruz was. His victory over TJ cemented his place as the BW goat. There is currently no close second.

I picked Cruz to win because I was a casual and just looked at his resume.

Max vs Kattar was a pretty epic recent one. Some people thought Max was beginning his decline, after the lackluster losses to Volk and previous issues that he had with weight cutting and stuff. Lots of people were picking Kattar in this fight. And Max goes out there and puts on one of the most dominating performances we've ever seen.

Ngannou/Blaydes 2.

I don't think people realize how fucked up Francis career was in 2018.

January 2018 he loses a crushing decision to Stipe. Dana tears Francis a new one at the post fight presser.

June 2018 Francis loses an arguably worse decision to Derrick Lewis. The commentators shat on Francis, Dana tears Francis an even bigger one at the post fight, even implied he was going to get cut, and the fans were absolutely sure Francis was done as a top fighter. Hell, even i was for loss of words after the Lewis fight.

December 2018 Francis KO's Blaydes in 30 seconds and all is erased lmao. What a year that was for him.

I'm pretty sure Edgar wasn't the favourite over Aldo, at least not on the betting lines.

How has no one said Nate Diaz vs Conor 1 yet? Nate definitely appeared to be on a backslide then ended up reminding folks who the fuck he was.
Also Diaz vs Pettis was great since people were saying Pettis would chew his ass up, and he ended up almost getting finished.

Diaz vs Michael Johnson is the better example. Johnson was like a 4-1 favorite over Diaz.

Oh shit a really great one was Wonderboy vs Luque. Wonderboy was coming back from his 1st and only combat sports KO loss ever against past prime LW Pettis.
He was already 36 years old and his style required a lot of reflexes, speed, timing, and a good chin. All these factors were in question for this fight.

Luque was coming off a 6 fight winning streak with 5 brutal finishes. Luque was at the time and is still known to be one of the most brutal strikers in WW history.
Wonderboy put those questions about his chin to rest after the 1st round of their fight at MSG. After a competitive 1st round, Thompson put a clinic on Luque for the the rest of the fight.

This win also aged very well. Luque has since gone on a 4 fight winning streak(4 finishes) with wins over Price, Brown, Woodley and Chiesa.

To be honest, I never thought Francis would go away. People forget that Stipe was considered the heaviest handed guy in the division other than Ngannou and maybe Lewis but he wasn't even close to finishing Francis in those five rounds. I thought Francis would eventually become champion but only after Stipe retires. I guess I was wrong.

Easily Randy vs Tim.

Randy was old as crap, coming off a KO loss to a LHW. He then randomly got paired up with Sylvia in his next fight moving up to HW. Tim was like twice Randy’s size and had just about cleared out HW at the time. People thought Randy was going to legit get hurt badly in that fight.

10 seconds into the fight Randy shows he’s been training with Hendo by dropping Tim with a H bomb and out grapples him for 25 mins.
