I don't think the GOAT can be someone who has tapped to strikes. That's my only gripe when talking about someone who is GOAT.
Consequences of not tapping to strikes is far worse than the consequences of not tapping to a choke or arm lock. Which is why several doctors groups (CMA and BMA for instance) are trying to ban boxing and MMA, but no one is trying to ban judo or BJJ.
Which means if tapping disqualifies from GOAT discussion, tapping to chokes and locks is worse than tapping to strikes, because you're tapping to things with far smaller long term consequences. You can be instantly revived from being choked out with no short term or long term consequences. Modern medicine can put your arm back together if you don't tap to a bar, and you're back in business in six months. But there's nothing modern medicine can do if you're received head blows onto an already concussed brain, and the problems will last the rest of your life.
Tapping to strikes is the easiest to justify form of tapping, at least for anyone with any medical knowledge at all (again, ask a doctor which is worse).
