Greg Finley Cast as the Villain Girder in The CW's THE FLASH

Greg-Finley-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

The CW have cast Star-Crossed alien Greg Finley as DC Comics villain Girder, Zap2It reports. It was previously announced that the villain will come on board the series in a recurring role, as someone who used to bully young Barry in the schoolyard. Now, Woodward is “a grinning lunkhead who loves destruction,” an “unstoppable force… Who can transmute any part of his body into solid steel.”

In the comics, his powers came from being dunked in molten metal tainted by S.T.A.R. Labs experiments. In the TV series, S.T.A.R. Labs's reactor malfunction (seen in Arrow and then again in The Flash's pilot) is seemingly responsible for all of the metahuman activity in Central City. Tony Woodward, Girder's real name, joins Plastique, The Weather Wizard and Captain Cold as villains from the comics known to be coming to the TV show. The Flash debuts on October 7 on The CW.

Robert Knepper's The Clock King to Appear in THE FLASH

Clock-King-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

The time has come for a major Flash-Arrow crossover — and this one’s going to be a royal pain for Barry Allen. Robert Knepper will reprise the role of William Tockman (aka The Clock King) in Episode 7 of The Flash, TVLine has learned exclusively. The Clock King is the first villain to show up in both Starling and Central City, having faced off against Oliver and company in Arrow‘s Season 2 episode “Time of Death.”

But wait, it gets worse; The Clock King won’t be working alone! “We wanted to give Barry a real challenge… TWO bad guys!” says executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, adding that Barry will be “fighting both a new enemy and one of our scariest and most successful Arrow villains in The Clock King.” No word yet on who that other villain might be, but if he (or she) is in league with The Clock King, Barry’s got his work cut out for him.

Another villain will be added to the show. In episode six, the recurring character of Tony Woodward aka Girder will be introduced, according to TV Line. Here is a description of the character: “Woodward was a bratty steelworker who upon being dunked in a vat of molten metal that had been tainted by S.T.A.R. Labs waste emerged as a mass of iron, impervious to most anything.”

Clancy Brown Cast as General Wade Eiling in THE FLASH

Clancy-Brown-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

The Flash is going deep into the DC mythology. The CW's Arrow spinoff has tapped Sleepy Hollow actor Clancy Brown in a pivotal recurring role, THR has learned. He will first appear in the fifth episode. Brown will play General Wade Eiling, also known as The General, the head of a black ops army team pursuing Plastique (Kelly Frye) in the hopes of using her as a human weapon. Described as a tall and imposing man, with "a face carved from years of duty," Eiling is fanatically intent on protecting American interests around the world and may have ties to a central Flash character.

To those familiar with DC, the character of Wade Eiling has been featured in the comics and in several animated series, including Justice League Unlimited (voiced by J.K. Simmons), as a sometimes ally/sometimes nemesis of the Justice League and Amanda Waller. He also has ties to the Suicide Squad.

Brown will next appear in 2016's Warcraft and was the voice of Lex Luthor in several animated properties. Fun fact: Brown voiced the villain, Parallax, for The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti's 2011 film The Green Lantern.

Kelly Frye to Play Plastique in The CW's THE FLASH TV Series

Kelly-Frye-Plastique-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

It was just days ago that we learned that DC supervillainess Plastique would be heading to The CW's upcoming The Flash. Now, E! Online has learned that the character of Bette Sans Souci will be portrayed by actress Kelly Frye. Having first appeared in Fury of Firestorm #7, Plastique was primarily a villain against Captain Atom and sometimes Firestorm (who could potentially appear in the series as Robbie Amell has already been cast as half of the nuclear man). The character also has had ties to both the Justice League as well as the Suicide Squad and made a previous live-action appearance in the eighth season of Smallville. There, she was played by Jessica Parker Kennedy.

E! describes the TV version of Bette Sans Souci as a bomb disposal expert in Iraq who, following exposure to the energy released by the S.T.A.R. Labs meltdown...now has the ability to turn any object she touches into an explosive device. On the run from the shadow forces in the U.S. government trying to turn her into a human weapon, she finds an ally in fellow metahuman The Flash.

In the comics, Plastique was also a member of the Suicide Squad, a team that appeared fairly regularly throughout the second half of Arrow's second season and which is being groomed for a potential spinoff series, according to actor David Ramsey, who also revealed that the Squad will see more action in Season Three as Lyla Michaels, Diggle's ex-wife and current love interest, will be in charge of A.R.G.U.S., the organization that oversees it. The Flash premieres October 7 on The CW. Look for Frye to make her debut in the fifth episode of The Flash.

ARROW and THE FLASH to Have Two-Hour Crossover Event

Arrow-Flash-CW-Crossover-Dragonlord.jpg

Not long ago, The Flash and Arrow showrunner Greg Berlanti told reporters that he hoped to get to crossovers between the shows and their characters sooner rather than later -- and today, the other shoe dropped. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed to TV Guide that the two CW series, based on DC Comics superheroes, will cross over for a two-hour event across their respective eighth episodes.

Assuming there are no skip weeks, that would place it at November 25 and 26 for The Flash and Arrow respectively. If there are programmed skip weeks, it would likely be in early or mid-December. Barry Allen made his first appearance on Arrow in the second season's eighth episode last year, titled "The Scientist." That episode aired on December 4. The show's midseason finale, "Three Ghosts," continued that storyline and aired on December 11.

Kreisberg, who works on both series, said that most of the crossovers will be fairly low-key at first, but that this event is larger in scale. "Episodes 8 of both shows, Arrow and Flash, are going to be a two-hour crossover event," Kreisberg told TV Guide. "[Also], in Episode 4, Felicity [Emily Bett Rickards] is going to come to The Flash."

Wentworth Miller to Play Captain Cold in The CW's THE FLASH

Wentworth-Miller-Captain-Cold-Dragonlord.jpg

Prison Break alum Wentworth Miller is heading to Central City. The Flash has booked Miller in the guest role of Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold, on The CW's Arrow spinoff, executive producer Greg Berlanti announced Friday during the summer Television Critics Association press tour. Miller will first appear in the fourth episode. In the DC Comics, the popular Leonard Snart/Captain Cold is a leader of the Rogues and considered an enemy of The Flash.

Miller joins a cast led by Gustin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanagh, Rick Cosnett and John Wesley Shipp in the ensemble, which also recently added Tomorrow People star Robbie Amell as half of Firestorm.

Berlanti revealed that there is a good chance viewers will meet Dr. Martin Stein, the other half of Firestorm, revealing that in an early draft, Stein was "in a version of the pilot." "We've incorporated almost everything from the mythology into it and added a whole new backstory," executive producer/COO of DC Comics Geoff Johns told reporters. "[The Flash] is probably the most faithful DC adaptation ever."

As for speculation over whether characters Green Arrow and The Flash will transition to the big screen, Johns tried to put that to rest, saying that the film and television universes for DC Comics "are separate worlds." The Flash premieres Oct. 7 on The CW.

William Sadler Cast as Simon Stagg in The CW's THE FLASH

William-Sadler-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

Simon Stagg, the father of Metamorpho's girlfriend Sapphire in the DC Comics source material, will appear on the second episode of The CW's The Flash, played by The Shawshank Redemption's William Sadler, the actor revealed via his Twitter account. The Roswell star posted a number of comments and photos to Twitter today after being spotted by paparazzi on set yesterday. With him at the time was Muchasa Armstrong, who had minor roles in Arrow and The Tomorrow People. ComicBook.com has reached out to The CW to see whether we can confirm that Armstrong is playing Java, the genetically-engineered driver/bodyguard who is a constant companion to Stagg in the comics.

A report on TVLine earlier this week suggested that Starman villain The Mist might be the antagonist in the second episode of The Flash. Whether that report was inaccurate, there's a connection between the two villains. Around the same time The CW announced that The Flash would be introduced on Arrow with an eye toward a pilot, Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim tweeted an image of a van marked "Metamorpho Chemical" with the teaser "coming to Arrow Season 2."

Robbie Amell to Play Superhero Firestorm in THE FLASH

Robbie-Amell-Firestorm-Dragonlord.jpg

Robbie Amell is coming to Central City. The Tomorrow People star is reuniting with executive producer Greg Berlanti for a major recurring role on The CW's The Flash, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Amell is boarding the Arrow spinoff as DC Comics character Ronnie Raymond, otherwise known as one-half of Firestorm. First appearing in the third episode, Ronnie is Caitlin Snow's (Danielle Panabaker) fiance, whose fate is more complicated than first imagined. A maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs, Ronnie plays an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into The Flash.

In the comics, Ronnie is bonded with another man to form the nuclear-powered superhero, Firestorm. Ronnie/Firestorm has rarely been seen in TV and film, though the character has made its way to several animated properties such as Super Friends: The Legendary Superpowers Show, The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. This would be the first time the character would be seen in a live-action property.

The Flash casting marks an Amell reunion. His cousin, Stephen, stars as the title character on Arrow (he makes a cameo in The Flash pilot) and the two briefly shared Wednesday nights on The CW, which was unofficially dubbed #AmellWednesdays.

Five-Minute Extended Trailer for The CW's THE FLASH!

The-Flash-Logo-Dragonlord.jpg

The CW has released a 5-minute extended trailer for The Flash featuring lots of great new footage. The trailer begins with tragedy before bringing us to the present day Barry Allen. The video gives us a bit more information on his backstory before finally showing us Barry Allen post-lightning storm. He's awake, and he's fast! He even heals fast. But as the synopsis and the trailer reveal, Barry's not the only metahuman out there. It also shows Barry demonstrating his new skills, and dropping in to have a chat with Oliver Queen, who seems to have some motivational words for his friend.

The DC’s speedy superhero series stars Grant Gustin (Glee), Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order), Danielle Panabaker (Shark), Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries), Candice Patton (The Game), Tom Cavanagh (Ed), John Wesley Shipp (the 90s The Flash), Carlos Valdes, guest star Patrick Sabongui, and recurring star Michelle Harrison (Emily Owens, MD).

Synopsis: After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.

Patrick Sabongui Joins THE FLASH as Police Captain Singh

Patrick-Sabongui-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

The Flash has added another player to the mix. Actor Patrick Sabongui is boarding The CW's proposed Arrow spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He will guest star in the pilot as Central City Police Captain David Singh. If The Flash receives a series order, there is a chance Sabongui's role could be expanded to recurring status. Sabongui has appeared in Almost Human, The Tomorrow People, Psych, Fringe and Stargate: Atlantis.

Flash follows Barry (Grant Gustin), a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who visits Starling City to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. Through a freak accident, he is given the power of super speed that transforms him into the fastest man alive.

The cast also includes John Wesley Shipp (aka the original Barry Allen from the '90s series); Tom Cavanagh as physics "rock star" Harrison Wells; Jesse L. Martin as Detective West; Candice Patton as West's daughter and Barry's love interest Iris; Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, a bioengineering expert; Carlos Valdes as mechanical engineering expert Cisco Ramon; and Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne.

Wow they're actually finally going ahead with this. Any news if it's Barry Allen or Wally West?

Edit: never mind. It's Barry Allen.

The Flash has so much potential as a show and movie, just so long as the studio and all the other people who have input don't screw it up, but what are the odds of that EVER happening?

I don't watch Arrow but from the 10 minutes I have seen I'm pretty sure he killed Deadshot. Surely that isn't a great idea for the DC universe if they're killing off fairly big villains?

Also, I'd like to see Charlie Hunham as The Flash.

You know I prefer Wally West, but either way I'm excited to see the Flash get a TV series and hopefully the movie works out.

Called this right after the Smallville series finale. Smallville was groundbreaking when it came to TV special effects and they need a solid superpowered DC character to showcase them.

However, I have no fuckin hope for this show if it's by the Arrow creators.

You don't think Arrow has been much, much better than Smallville?

I thought Smallville was basically 90210 with a dusting of super powers.

I don't get why everyone loves Charlie Hunnam. He can barely hide his English accent, it's like he doesn't even try and the directors never force him to.

Bradley Cooper would be awesome (would make a good GL too) but I doubt he'd do a TV show.

Also... are these actors (Arrow and Flash) supposed to play those characters in the JL movie as well?

Arrow is far better than Smallville. I don't see Flash translating well to the screen, big or small.

They just need to embrace the ridiculousness of that character. They don't need to Nolanize it. Just watch when the two Quicksilvers come running across the screen. People will think, "Why can't they pull off Flash like that?"

I guess my thought is that, of done accurately, Flash should be one of the most powerful heros in the world. He should never be threatened. And there is the difficulty of showing his speed onscreen. I want it to be good, I just think this is one of the harder characters to pull off.

The problem is he's a one trick pony, and you can only really pull off one nice slow-mo Zack Snyder style shot per episode before it gets tired.

And if you show him at full speed (IE too fast for the viewer to see) then it's kinda boring.

Like how many times can he zip around a bank and after a blink of an eye all the robbers' pants are around their ankles and they're tied to each other?

No matter how you slice it, showcasing his powers and abilities will get old. They should have used him sparingly like Hawkeye.

all my v-cash on them showing papers flying in the air at least ONCE in the movie.

This could be cool. I think establishing some of these characters on TV before doing movies with them could be an excellent idea.

Nope, he survived and came back later in the season.

Wait so the "no superpowers" rule is getting erased now? Then Black Canary can have her shout now. I don't know how I feel about Arrow being changed. The Nolan Effect was working pretty well on the show.
