And it's kind of sad to see honestly I'm just overly nostalgic probably most of them have fallen I think GSP might be the only guy who retires on top.

If this is related to the main event last night i feel your sorrow TS. Rashads decline is messed up

It will happen to every fighter at some point. Unless they just bounce at the tail end of their prime like GSP did.

Age ...
And USADA most certainly doesn't help the older fighters either...

Ya know, I never thought rashad was THAT good. he murdered declining chuck and he was ufc champion, but he beat forrest griffin. Bless his soul, but he was probably the worst LHW champion of all time.

Then the machida fight happened.... other than the win against davis, it was all downhill from there.

the decline comes with the territory man. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but the reality is most fighters have a 10 - 20 window in which to fight, and by the end of those years, the reflexes, the jaw, cardio and power tend to fade

Arguably losing a fight and being showered by boo's in your last post fight speech is not "going out on top"

Back to the topic, it is sad to see a fighter's career burnout but that's the way the game goes.

It's a good thing. Imagine how frustrating it would be if every top fighter retired on top, or close to the top? Lots of questions unanswered: "could he have continued dominating" and the likes, "oh, he would still beat all of them"...

Obviously there are fighter who continues for too long, and it becomes a concern with health issues, but that's a different thing.
