Add that loss in the UFC tournament. Although they did let him fight in the final as an alternateYou guys aren't even close.
Sakuraba is the fighter that got most screwed.
A natural 185 pounder that could have cut to 170, he made a reputation and became a national hero beating Gracies, and fought some top-quality guys in his own weight class before being thrown to the wolves -- Igor Vov, Wandy, Rampage, Randleman, Cro Cop. It was like Pride was intentionally trying to kill him. They made the poor guy fight roided out Wandy three times, and Saku never complained at all as he was put through the ringer.
Imagine taking a guy like Robert Whittaker -- nice guy, takes care of business, good fighter -- and making him fight Jones, Ngannou, and the killers row of LHWs and HWs. That's what they did to Saku.
Letting people like Colby get title shots sucks, and it's all about drawing more eyeballs to the PPVs. But putting him against someone like Cormier in his prime? That's not even nearly as scary as Saku being put in with a prime Cro Cop.

If we're being fair, Shields arguably went winless in his UFC stint, on top of having a style that's not very palatable to even the most seasoned hardcore fan.Shields probably is the worst case I remember.
Fitch, Davis, Corey Anderson, Bader etc.
What's Saku looking like these days? Last time I paid attention his ear got blown off.You guys aren't even close.

You all have it wrong. Tony Ferguson got screwed worse than anybody. I can't get into it hella deep right now, but him and Khabib had many mutual opponents and Ferguson had a higher finish rate %. His resume was much better than Khabib's for a title shot imho. I wish I saved my post about it, but if you side by side their UFC resume, Tony was as good or better than Khabib on paper. He would have been champ if he got the shot before Justin turned him into the ghost of Tony.
PVZ… maybe Lipski
Oh I misread the question

And if Shields hadn't spent his entire career being an insufferable cunt, I'd probably be throwing the UFC under the bus on this one.Close fight or not Shields was on a 3 or 4 fight winning streak(there was an NC)before the loss to Lombard that got him cut(also wiki says the Sexyama fight was 3-0 on all 3 scorecards haven't watched it in awhile do you think Sexyama won?). The last 2 wins were over Woodley and Maia who'd both go on to win and fight for the WW belt respectively.
And the style thing is discrimination but of the guys with that style the UFC has discriminated against Shields's cutting/letting go was the least defendable. Say what you want about his style his fight with GSP sold 800k PPV buys and broke a live gate record. The UFC also put his fight with Woodley on the freaking prelims.

I don't remember the Sex fight too much. I remember Shields being comfortably ahead, but Sexyama had the only memorable moments of the fight. It probably could have gone either way depending on what you valued the most in scoring back then. Shit was so ambiguous.
Now, cutting Okami was a fucking travesty.
Conor was a walking promo though. No one ever seemed to care about Shields. The GSP fight was an outlier, likely because of GSP's worldwide popularity. You're right he is an unsufferable cunt and it turned me off from being a fan used to like Shields a while back. That being said in terms of MMA find it hard to believe that was a factor given Conors reign of terror.

Someone at work asked me what I want out of a fighter's personality. GSP. Safe, boring, and polite. GSP could be a literal pimp to a harem of chimpanzees and orangutans and I wouldn't know because he manages his privacy so damned well.
