Media The fight that changed Tony Ferguson's career forever

Don't think it was just that one fight. People forget the beatings he took vs Vannata and Pettis because he won. Tony's whole style was outgritting fighters and breaking them mentally once their best couldn't put him away.

It was bound to catch up with him eventually. It isn't conducive to a long healthy career.

Yeah I'm sure that the Gaethje fight was a major part of it, but anyone who followed his career and his nutty training methods would highly suspect it was coming. The body can only take so much damage and has only so much recovery ability. No matter how tough you are or how much of a badass you imagine yourself.

Ferguson started to slow down when he fought Pettis

I feel bad just rewatching this shit

I feel like Tony was already 36 years old (certainly past prime at LW), had taken insane amounts of punishment and had suffered some serious injuries over the years. This narrative that it was the Justin fight ruined his career is cute, I'm sure it didn't help but I really think Ferguson was slowing down and things had caught up to him even before this fight. The got busted up and rocked in many of his fights.

What information in the UFC needs to be heard?
Joe saying he's hurt every time someone gets touched?

Or maybe Felder and Bisping talking about suits?

The commentary team hasn't relayed pertinent information in a decade at least sir.
If something happens off camera,or even something I might have missed, they can tell us about it. I want to know about that shit if it happens.

If you cant handle UFC commentary, you guys are just bein a bunch of fuckin sensitive contrarian nerds tbh. Try watching it upside down too!

I'm pretty sure wearing sunglasses indoors was what changed his career the most.

Oh shit someone is frisky today huh?
Pull your thongs out of your butt and take a chill pill lol.
Im just saying they don't relay information pertaining to the fight as much as they used to.
They also talk like its a friggin podcast and that's not part of communicating effectively.

Never heard Jim Lampley rattling on about shit that wasn't about the fight or fighters.

It feels unprofessional, it feels like messy unorganized gobbledygook to be honest brother.

Just saying.
Much love boss man.

Crazy how he went from 12 fight win streak, possible LW GOAT who was expected to challenge and possibly beat Khabib, to losing 5 in a row

Reminds me of BJ Penn and Anderson Silva post Weidman
Who did he beat again?

I never watched this fight again after the first time. It is painful to watch both from how brutal it was and also how my favorite MMA fighter got demolished whom I felt was going to win.
that is me with the cain jds 2 and 3. only time i will rewatch these is if me and my friends are talking about fights that should have been stopped

The writing was on the wall.

Everyone knew taking that fight was a terrible idea in itself, but then this special person also made weight for a fight that was already off, only to have to do it again.

It's not entirely his fault though, his corner completley failed him in that fight. Shouldnt have been there in the first place though.
His corner was fucking awful. Tony played his cards way too wrong if he would have waited he would have fought Khabib. And his corner says dumb shit to him in this fight like give me sand Tony

jim lampley the guy who fuckin cries everytime manny throws a combination
Or larry merchant who rambles on and on forever and laughs at his own shitty jokes

"Waaah i want professionalism,like boxing!"

I love the HBO team despite their flaws, btw, and would never put them on mute on a live telecast.

Lamp was the man when I was a kid.
And tbh very honest if there was a way to mute only the commentary and still listen to the fight and crowd I would.

They are like children now, and the calls for knockouts are forced for social media clicks.
They are a mess and you know im telling the truth sir lol.

I would like some god damn cohesiveness ya bastad :p

I dont mind re-watching something without commentary, but live? never.

The amount of thuds that landed flush on Cucuy's dome and face was insane

The first time I rewatch a fight I don't have any sound on.
Either way they need better cohesion big man.

well he could have just quit and you could have viewed him differently.
But he stayed longer past his best.

that’s why I think Ali isn’t a good boxer Leon spinks and larry holmes whooped his ass
