If you had more than enough you should have hedged your investment portfolio for inflation. Your wealth would be doing the opposite of disappearing. That's why the rich don't care, they make a lot more playing the other side of inflation coin than they loose filling up their mercedes.

I'm seeing so many billionaires, politicians, and celebrities on social media and TV saying shit like "I'm ok paying 3 more dollars a gallon for gas if it means punishing evil Putin".

No shit Sherlock! YOU can afford $3 more a gallon for gas because you're an insulated rich asshole who hasn't had to make serious financial sacrifices your whole life.

There are millions of people in this country who will literally have less food in their homes because of the price of gas, many of which don't have much food in the home to begin with. With general inflation being what it is and now gas prices ripping through the roof, there are many people who are going to get pushed over the edge for amounts that seem like chump change to elites.

This is why we so desperately need rulers from all spectrums of society. We need working class and even poor people in significant policy making roles to balance out the utter delusion of rich people who think that life on the yacht is like life anywhere else.

I get this is a funny meme and i don't give a damn about mayor pete. But people who make $30k a year are out buying $60k to $70k pick up trucks. I don't think the cost if electric cars is the issue.

Nissan leaf and chevy bolts are $27k and $32k respectively. And plenty of hybrids getting 40 to 50 mpg between $20k and $30k.

"Rulers" is what got everyone into this mess, new ones wouldn't change anything. Rulers come with the same flaws as everyone else. Even if sometimes they act in a paternalistic manner, they also act as corrupt tyrants because you've given away your power to them and they simply can. It's like if you gave the keys to your house to a stranger to 'take care of things' for you. They might do the 'right thing' for a while, but you're still dangling the opportunity for them to rob you or have a wild party at your place. If you keep dangling the opportunity over and over again, they may start to think you're so stupid you deserve to be taken advantage of - after all they're already taking care of everything for you. Even Biden couldn't remain in power if millions of people took to the streets and said these policies needed to end. It's the apathy and stupidity of the general population, sitting hypnotized in front of their TV screens blindly believing every word they hear, that's allowing it to happen. You couldn't enact damaging or tyrannical policies if a majority of people were fierce critical thinkers that had no patience for bullshit, peer pressure or theatrics.

I’m definitely middle class, no where near elite, but it’s not that hard to adapt to higher gas prices. Commute together, take public transportation, walk/bike more, drive less in general, by EV or hybrids, etc etc etc. Yes it’s a bummer, but it’s not the end of the world.

My friends that bitch the most are easily the most pathetic out everybody I know, and they whine about every inconvenience in their life like the world is out to get them. Change, adapt, move on.
