The Difference In BJJ Between Nate & Conor is Greater Than Maia & Gunnar

Except Nate rarely uses his BJJ, while thats Maia's main offensive weapon.

We factually have no idea how good healthy McGregor's BJJ actually is ... how can you compare their BJJ then? Inb4 Mendes...

Dude's a beast on the ground, Conor must avoid the ground at all costs.

only 3 sub since 09'. Nate doesn't really go for the sub, it's more often then not the other guy who make a mistake and get caught.
chitoortiz is right...

Nate BJJ is Real good tho!

Ya, if Diaz is smart he has a real chance in this fight. If he chooses to talk shit and try to throw slaps standing he's giving Conor a better chance to win.

He should use these ten days to really drill closing the distance and getting takedowns.

If Diaz would fight like a Fitch,Gunnar Or Maia vs Conor he would have a good chance to sub him. but I think Diaz just want to throw punch in the other guy face tbh...

...and we all saw how that went
You are right. but I think connor doesn't want anything to do with Nate's ground game. Something tells me Nate's going to use his BJJ. Judging by his awnser when asked at the ufc 196 press conference if he was planning to keep it on the feet "We are going to fight"

Yeah, McGregor's BJJ is still a question mark. According to JK, he's a Brown Belt, but he didn't look too threatening against Mendes off his back, but his guillotine defense was nice. Apart from against Holloway, we only really see his ground work against rocked opponents, like when he got on top of Brandao and Siver.

Against Nate, I'll be most interested in what happens if they go to the ground.

Those are the most dangerous type of guys to deal with on the ground for certain fighters. An experienced fighter can deal with submission artists that catch em by surprise and defend. But for a guy like Conor who is not a high level bjj grappler and just evolving his game, this type of sub guy is the worse to deal with because its very hard to prepare for and you need to have high level awareness of what they are doing. Conor showed good awareness of sub defense vs Chad, that shows that he understands he can defend vs the bjj offense of passing, mounting and going for a sub....he basically showed that he applied what he learned in training. But those are the basics and things that he can see coming in a fight, a submission guy like Nate who catches guys in transitions and making mistakes is much more difficult to prepare for.

But the difference in wrestling and top control is not.

Gracie's Jiu-Jitsu is known to be a difficult school to obtain a black belt. Nate was able to achieve his black belt there and we've seen that he uses BJJ effectively in MMA.

Conor might be good on the mat, you're right we don't know that much about him in that discipline. But, from what I've seen of his ground game I'd say don't chance it against Nate.

I hope Nate fights smart and looks for chokes when Conor is in close.

well Gunnar was made to look like a Jabroni and that's his BJJ guru, now juxtapose that against Conor's back game vs. Mendes

I hope after standing for 1 or 2 rounds Nathan goes for the trip & sub

The difference in BJJ between Nate and Conor is greater then James Toney and Werdum.

Nate doesn't have the wrestling to take it to the ground. Only way it goes there is a slip.
