Random but who thinks a contender series in kickboxing would be a good idea? There's been plenty in boxing, UFC have "The ultimate fighter" series and we've even seen a muaythai contender Asia with yodsanklai and JWP but what about a 70kg kickboxing one? Fighters living and competing with each other to see who comes out on top. It would be a good way to bring attention to the sport and for fans to get to know the fighters. Who would you include?

Giorgio Petrosyan
Yodsanklai
Sittichai
Superbon
Josh Jauncey
Marat Grigorian
Van Roosmalen
Sergey Adamchuk
Davit Kiria
Jordan Watson
Enriko Gogokhia
Victor Nagbe
Qiu Jianliang (if he can make 70kg)
Dzhabar Askerov
Enriko Kehl

Plenty of English speaking fighters if worried about no one speaking English. Not sure if a MT version would work again because the majority of the best are Thai's and certain Thai's wont face each other. Kickboxing brings in fighters from all over.

It'd be cool if Kunlun could make something like that happen.
Jauncey, Kiria, Gogokhia would be good.

There's been/will be some shows like that in China but it's all Chinese fighters and obviously in Chinese so not much value for us :) There's pretty good docus and stuff about fighters too.

Sucks we get crumbs what's out there.

Because these 2 seasons did so well in ratings.

I thought the first season did well. Who cares either way bringing in all those names will gain some attention.

Interesting

I've got an idea that I've been thinking about. What about an old-timers GP? One last shot!

Hoost
Aerts
Lebanner
Sefo
Filho
Changpuek
Musashi
Cikatic

If someone isn't available it would be good to have an American replacement like Rick Roufus, Maurice Smith or Carter Williams. Lol not Sapp!

It would be cool to rent out the Tokyo Dome and bring in Michael Buffer and have it promoted by the old K-1 guys. Who would want to see this? Could happen I think.

Good old Cocakillbana being as predictable as usual. Not sure why you even reply to my comments when you troll for most of the time.

This is not a bad idea. All these great names fighting each other would be a dream and I would pay top dollar to see this but too bad it will never happen. Just cant see it happening.

What's with Cocakillbana? Did JayMuayThai sleep with coca's girlfriend or something?

I would watch it for sure,Contender asia was fantastic.

Ideally they would do both the 70kg Contender and the HW old timer GP, then the two winners could face off. Age vs multiple weight class advantage. Make it happen Kunlun!

But ya, like others have noted I'm not getting my hopes up for anything like this actually coming to fruition.

Because this thread is stupid. If you can fantasize up some asinine BS that is all but logistically impossible, than so can I.

Don't get how it's so stupid when there are reality-ish shows already and more in the works, promotions are expanding and Kunlun for example is basically copying a lot of what UFC has done. They've stated about a billion times they want to do everything they can from apparel to events to gyms etc etc. A TV show fits in there just fine.

Wouldn't see it be that much of a stretch if Kunlun did a show and had Kyshenko for example there to mentor and usual Kunlun guys, including foreigners, participating. Wouldn't cost them that much either once the huge-ass gym opens, they have the tv time and it wouldn't exactly be horrible marketing. They've also started to nurture more Chinese talent with the weekly B-level fight nights thingy so shouldn't be too hard to get some new names to develop either.

Guess just have to be an ass since it's sherdog.

You don't remember Yodsanklai koing Naruepol? They even trained at the same gym.

I think a chinese tv show could do something like this but nothing close to that lineup (good luck getting that line up under one single org let alone getting them in a house together)....At best they would get like 4 world class guys and a bunch of low/mid tier guys, sort of like the contender asia.

Enfusion does something like that but the production isn't really good

They should just show more content of the fighters in general (maybe upload videos to yourube or something). Hard to create a fanbase with just fight videos

Yup. The whole Glory platform of "Hey, here's a tournament!" every card is bland as fuck. The promotion has no personality and narrative.

Yeah i follow kickboxing events regularly and sometimes i still dont even know half the fighters there. I bet its even worse for casual fans

kickboxing in general have to promote better their fighters to gain more fans, but a big reality show in terms of production and elite fighters is very hard to happen, only kunlun have the money to do something like that, but i think they would do it for their MMA part

Did the second season ever air? I don't believe it did.

There was also the It's Showtime Reality Show which is even more elusive to find than the one season of The Contender Asia.

I've love to find a good source for those, but I don't think they were released on DVD...
