Where do I even begin? Conor, scheduled to fight at 155lbs for the lw title. champ pussies out and with less than 2 weeks to fight time, nate diaz is put in. Now, the fight is no longer at 155 but at 170. Conor fights hard, gasses and taps out. He took a huge risk and lost. Many fighters in his position would not have continued. Now, not only is he no longer cutting to 155 he now has to switch gears and either put on weight or maintain his weight by consuming many more calories... That change right there is going to effect the outcome.
After the fight, Many are putting this absurd idea that nate and conor are the same size and nate is not the larger fighter. Ummmm what... Nate, a guy that weighed 171lbs and lean when he fought Rory Mac. We are too believe that he is not larger than conor, who has fought the vast majority of his career at FW. He only has 3 fights at LW.. People say, "well, he's fighting at his walk around weight" Ok and.... and that's supposed to be a good thing? conor, a guy that has never gassed in any fight before this one. Not once. Not in any fight in the ufc or cage warriors. Not in his 3 rounds with holloway. Not in his war with mendes for 2 rounds.. He had energy to spare. yet conor was noticeably gassing by the end of the 1st round... But yet the haters still say, the extra weight he carried into the fight did not play a role. Are these people just retards or just haters who refuse to be logical.
No matter how you slice it, conor weighed 23lbs heavier than in any fight in the last 3 years. He did this all in a span of a few months. and in the last 2 weeks to weigh in at 168lbs. anyone who thinks that sudden weight gain isn't going to effect his cardio are morons. That was the only time in his career he has ever gassed. and what was the difference here than in previous fights? Weighing more...Not really that hard to see.
