First of all big ups to Nate, I thought when that cut was opening it was under a minute from being stopped, he was wobbled, bleeding profusely and still he persevered through to get an epic win.

In Conor's loss I can't help but see the many likenesses in the demise of McGregor and Rousey.

1. Disdain for opponent;

- Nate had been beaten, even stopped before, but all opponents paid him respect for his strengths. Conor went in and fought recklessly.

- Rousey similarly had little respect for Holly, she charged in against a great counterstriker time and time again, she jumped on the armbar from the back giving up a dominant and very advantageous position.

2. Failure to adjust;

- Things were working for Conor, leg strikes, body strikes, setting up the hands for the headshots, some however were not. The constant headhunting and wild haymakers that were missing time and time again only to rapidly deplete his gas tank, I guess he forgot his own;
'timing beats speed and precision beats power'.

- Rousey's repeated bull charging was done until she was rendered unconscious, both and her and her corner failed to identify what worked, what didn't and failed to make adjustments accordingly.

3. Believing your own hype;

- Conor didn't fight like himself he was reckless, there was no precision in those shots. The lack of respect for an opponents skillset, say what you will about this point but the fight yesterday was a far cry from when he rushed to the other side against Mendes to apply pressure first, to dismantled him with body shots, to land shots on the steps and breaths, to understand that you will be taken down and to relax to pick the openings. Calm, cold, precise and effective. The hype made him think he could beat anyone, anywhere on his own terms.

- Rousey destroyed Bethe with ease, the UFC and Rogan hype perpetuated an image of invincibility, she was going to go knock out boxing champs post UFC etc. Instead of fighting smart she believed she could just do it and beat anyone.

4. Great fighter, great athlete, poor camp

- The lack of adjustment, the wild swinging, the lack of a real gameplan, Diaz has been beat and conceded rounds several times to strikers, the blueprint was there and it just wasn't followed.

Another point to make regarding Conor's is with Gunnar, when I found out the plan for Gunnar against Maia was to outgrapple him I was dumbfounded, K1 Maia isn't beating anybody on the feet so why? Just why? TDD, scrambles, movement were the keys.

- Same points for Rousey, where were the non judo takedowns? The double legs, the singles, the picks? Chain your attempts, Holm just blocked Rousey's hip and she had nothing? Where in the hell was the competent corner advice? "You're doing great champ", holy hell. As with Conor's camp we see poor results from other fighters who train there.

TLDR; Conor made a load of stupid errors, Rousey made a load of similarly stupid errors.
