I doesn't matter now what happened or how you handle it: Jones, who at one point was an asset and a selling point for UFC, became a dangerous liability. UFC should let him go, taking his misery with him somewhere else.

I think you have to hold onto him. He's a star. The UFC needs stars. Connors light has dimmed, thier biggest name is a wwe guy and it seems like Rousey is on her way out. Who can the UFC promote?

If jones went to bellator, bellator would be more valuable.

In regards to McGregor, Jones' star was never as high or bright, and has fallen to a greater degree.

Also, what is Bellator going to be able to do with him after two years of being outside of the everchanging MMA scene? You give Jones, who is such an overwhelming liability in comparison to his drawing power, too much credit.

Too risky, Bellator would fucking bring Kimbo back from his untimely death with the necronomicon to fight Jones and make a killing.

Make a killing where?

Bellator did millions of viewers on Spike with the likes of Dada 5000 and Ken Shamrock...I am pretty sure Jon 'Coco' Bones vs Zombie Kimbo would break 10 million viewers.

So we're now going to pretend that with a commission suspension, Bellator is going to be able to best exploit Jones' value (whatever that value may be now)?

I agree, Bones is one of the greatest of all time. He has a self sabotaging problem but his greatness is unquestionable.

Bones might never reach his full value but then again we might never know what that is - he would certainly be the most high profile guy in Bellator and would arguably attract more eye balls due to his notoriety.

His suspension might not be full and like I suspect, he'll get a reduced sentence due to taking a tainted supplement...my hunch. Bellator would love to be in the Jon Bones business - crazy shit or not - they could just put his fights on in Texas where getting popped for steroids means you sit out 6 months.

What Jones would likely ask for and what they will be able to do with him may be a bit too much especially when you consider Jones' volatility. Then again, that has never stopped them from making ill-advised investments before.

Yes an asset but hard to say just how valuable. He had his share of fans and those who wanted to see him lose but he wasn't great at all at cutting promos and not at the level of some others in terms of moving the needle. I think the expectation was that his value would continue to grow with his dominance and new challengers.

The discrepancy in sales between Jones' and his UFC "star" counterparts was pretty big. Jones' relocation to a lesser org would hurt his value (to the public). And of course there will be a narrative (which will be true) that Jones was too much of a loser in life for the UFC to want to keep him.

Jones is damaged goods, but I'm sure that won't stop Coker from smelling his "delectable" carcass.
