The correct response would have been, "Thanks for clearing that up for me.".Okay. So a more accurate statement is Trump waived the privilege. Trump holds the privilege. His attorneys who are representing him now can’t assert that privilege unless Trump consents. So Trump waived the privilege.
Unless you can quote me the rule from the ABA’s Model Rules for Professional Conduct that says that an attorney can unilaterally waive a client’s attorney client privilege, Trump would have to sign off on this.
