The Best Videogame Console you ever played?

I had a sega genesis as a kid while most kids had Nintendo. It was the only console I had so it’s the best one by default. Played so much Sonic on that shit. This one football game where different creatures played each other and smashed each other into pieces when tackling was fun.

They were both great consoles. Sometimes the SNES versions were better and vice-versa.

A pretty silly list to make without some sort of rules in place. especially since in many cases those great older games are on newer consoles.

PS3 seems to have much better staying power due to good enough graphics, the ability to play MP4 videos via flashdrive.

So much better than PS2 and older consoles.

Too bad no PS3 version of 3DS Virtual Console for super old games.

X-Box

I was all about that LAN Halo as a kid.

#1- SNES: Final Fantasy 6 & 4, hell I enjoyed Mystic Quest for what it was. Secret of Mana was amazing, Chrono Trigger is great despite it being kinda sad, Secret of Evermore, Ogre Battle, Link to the Past, Mario Kart, Street Fighter 2, DK Country, Super Mario World, ..so many great games, golden era of RPGs for me.

#2- NES: where it all really started for me. Mario Bros. games, Contra, Little Nemo, Bubble Bobble, the sports shit that used the floor pad, Mega Man, Guerrilla War, the wrestling game with Starman, Double Dragon, pretty sure there was a M.U.S.C.L.E. game I played a bit, and a couple GI Joe games.. Could go on and on.

HM:

N64: played the hell out of the WCW/nWo & Wrestlemania 2000 games, as well as Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, and the like.

PS1: Suikoden series, the second of which is one of the best RPGs I've played. Final Fantasy Tactics, Twisted Metal series.

SNES followed closely by PS1 and PS2 (tied).

Super Nintendo just had the right formula to make games that REALLY held up beautifully. FF series, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Illusion of Gaia, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, Super Mario RPG....

Just thinking about those games makes me wanna grab an emulator and start playing again.

PS had Twisted Metal series, FF series and tons of other quality games. Hard to pick between 1 and 2 for me, both excellent consoles at the time.

Hard to hold up to 16 bit consoles like SNES. They had colors/art and soundtracks NAILED

I may have to go with the old N64.
I'm basing this mostly on: The old games I loved that get ported over? Rarely translate well. Maybe that's a knock on it as well?

PS3

The multiplatform games released on it were the best of all other systems they were released on, and it's exclusives were unmatched compared the other systems of that generation.

I'd have to say SNES. No load times like today's consoles, didn't have to blow in the damn cartridges like I did with the NES, and the games were pretty damn good. I think I was 11 - begged my dad to get me one and I remember he had me write like a five page paper convincing him why he should get it.

n64
xbox 360
xbox one
gamecube
OG nintendo

In no particular order, they all have special places in my heart

Panasonic 3do honestly great concept just released at the wrong time and wrong price point

PS3

Huh? Most multiplatform games ran better on 360.
