The art of easily becoming easily offended

Didn't agree with his comments about smoking.

Smoking is disgusting. Glad restaurants have bans. I don't wanna breathe in people's second hand smoke.

Awesome. As for the above comment. You don't have to eat at a restaurant that allows it.

Agreed; how about I piss in the pool when this ugly bearded cunt is swimming in it, see how he enjoys drinking my piss.

It's no different than breathing in that toxic shit.

Other than bars, it seems most restaurants are non-smoking these days. And I avoid smoky bars. Can't imagine the health issues workers in those places might (eventually) have.

Steve Martin's take:
"I hate when people ask me, " Mind if I smoke? "
Do you mind if I fart?

The absurdity of people complaining about other people being offended never ceases to amaze me.

People say to the easily offended "Get over it." But when you say those people "Get over them being easily offended," you get a response about how the actions of the easily offended are so bad that they can't be gotten over and need to be addressed.

But it's such a egocentric argument. The easily offended feel the same way about the things that offend them as their detractors feel about the easily offended. That the detractors don't see the parallel in their behavior is just a testament to how individualized the sense of being offended is. What bothers me is really, really bad. What bothers you is just you being a little bitch.

It's like the people who complain about identity politics but then use identity politics to counter the users of identity politics. For example: The Dem's pander to [insert identity group] followed by [identity group] needs to change it's behavior or [identity group] should inspire us to all to do better. 2 sides of the same coin with a healthy dose of hypocrisy.

That guy's pretty funny, though the PC part was actually weaker than the rest.

Is complaining, by definition, the same as criticizing? Do you, in your post, complain about people that complain about other people?

Criticizing pc people is perfectly normal. They expect that everybody should change their behavior cause they can't deal with their emotions. We criticize the fact that they are trying to change other people, not that they are easily offended.

Am I complaining about people that complain about other people? Yes but I'm also not telling them to stop complaining. The hypocrisy is in complaining about someone else complaining coupled while implying that your complaints are more justified that theirs and that the preferred solution is that they stop complaining. I don't care if the easily offended keep complaining about everything and I don't care if their detractors keep complaining about the easily offended. I'll keep complaining too. We can all complain equally.

But I become a hypocrite once I start asking either group to stop what they're doing - complaining. You can criticize them all day and not be a hypocrite. But you're still doing exactly what they're doing. They're trying to change other people, their detractors are trying to change them.

I don't worry about what offends the easily offended.

I try to have good manners and be polite to everyone, if your offended by stupid shit while I'm around I have no time for your stupid shit and will tell you so.

the point of all this is that the people that get offended easily are usually the ones demanding action be taken so that the content that offended them is taken down.

if a radio show host says something offensive, they should be taken off the air. if a movie does something that offends them, it should be boycotted. if a speaker that offends them is giving a lecture at a school, it should be stopped.

lots of things offend me. donald trump, ted cruz, people that don't control their kids in public, men that don't hold the door open for women (minus a clear bitch), coke zero (THE FUCK DO THEY PUT IN THAT STUFF), wolf blitzer, basically everyone on conservative radio, and on and on i could go.

but i don't bitch and whine that all that offensive stuff needs to be removed for my own satisfaction. unless they are doing something illegal, i'd never advocate that they be taken down or prohibited from doing their offensive behavior. and that's where people really need to start toughening up, b/c life is tough. lots of bad shit happens, and if you are wasting 8 hours of your day trying to stop a radio show's advertisements from sponsoring the show, then i'd say you need a constructive fucking hobby to help you through your day.

Agreed. I have no problem with people smoking it's whatever even in bars. At a restaurant though when I'm trying to eat a meal? That's just gross.

This is why saying that this is "complaining about complaining" is inaccurate. People don't argue against PC culture only because it's annoying.

I'm with you. I hate smokers. Though, I will make an exception if an attractive woman is smoking with her butthole. That is pretty cool.
