The Anime and Manga Thread v47

Is the anime and manga writer the same? How would you compare Eva and Code Geass? Code Geass was the best mecha I've seen imo.

I'm looking for good shounen with good story and likeable characters. I'm also looking for good comedy anime that is not too cheesy haha.

I plan on watching some mystery anime right now, this shounen/comedy is for after watching the mystery ones.

Code geass anime has a tighter plot overall and had that addictive factor to it where it's basically a psychological chess game going on between the main characters. I think code geass had a an actual ending too, whereas the evangelion animes keep making extra movies or series in order to try to stick the ending lol.

I recall evangelion being thematically darker than code geass, though. It's something a philosophy major or a psych major would love to dig their teeth into, I'm sure. I wouldn't really call evangelion a shounen to be honest.

Let me know if you find a good mystery anime.

Oh so the manga wasn't the original, I thought it was the original cause the release date is earlier than the first anime series.

Is the rebuild evangelion the continuation or totally different story from the original series brada?

The anime, the manga, and the Rebuild series are all completely different continuities. They start in the same place, but they all go in very different directions.

Which one do you mean not mecha? Eva or Code Geass?

Eva. It'd be a huge spoiler to tell you why it's not actually a mecha series, but I will say that it's basically cosmic horror disguised as a mecha anime.

Also, if you do watch it, watch it subbed. I'm not even a sub purist, but in this case, neither of the dubs really get it right.

I personally think both are, but I'm not an expert on what constitutes the genres. I also don't want to spoil plots that might help delineate that classification of genres.

One thing is for sure, though, code geas and evangelion are very different from eachother.

Haha, I'll def watch it subbed. I'm not native English speaker myself, and rarely do I see good dubs except for certain anime like Death note and FMA where the dubs is equal to the sub.

Yeah, I'll watch Eva after the mystery I'm going to watch. Eva seems pretty long and I just finished HxH which is also prety long. I want a lil break.

I'm going to watch one of these: Happy Sugar Life, Terror in Resonance, Summertime Rendering, Erased, Kokkoku

Eva's not long at all. 26 episodes and a 90 minute movie.

Lol this meme makes sense now. Sometime I see memes and I don’t even know where it is from 6491BCA6-1591-48DA-8F6D-820390CD31BA.jpeg

If you like Code Geass check out Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans. It's not connected to any of the other Gundam shows so you can jump right in. Legend of the galactic heroes (the remake, haven't seen the original) is also good although I find the "Strategy" during combat to be kind of silly and not make much sense.

I feel like I need to watch the ending to Evangelion a few more times.

Sat there the first time like:

{<doc}
Still have the movie to check out as well.

So what's good this season? I'm watching Boku no hero and Tokyo revengers (which has fallen off imo)

Pushed through Stardust and onto the next season. Shining Diamond was a big improvement for me, minus some of the fillery episodes.

Started golden wind, and enjoying it so far.

Evangalieon is 1000% a mecha

That's like saying the titans in AoT ae mechas.

Debating whether to start Bocchi the Rock or Ippon Again next. Just finished the second season of Nagatoro and I'm still in the mood for something fluffy. Both of those two seem to satisfy that, plus one's music focused, and the other one's about judo, so they both seem tailor made for me.

So, I went with Bocchi. I'm three episodes in, and I'm loving it. If it stays this good, it'll probably be just behind Given as my favorite music anime.

On a related note, more people need to watch Given. It's so fucking good. I wanna rewatch it some time soon.
