The Aldo-McGregor rivalry will end up like the Cain-JDS rivalry

People who are saying there shouldn't be a rematch because of the result of the first fight are ignorant of the way the sport works. I understand that these are mostly newer fans who haven't watched MMA develop.

Good point TS.

I hadn't thought about the Cain vs JDS thing.

But I have hope that it ends up exactly like that.

Well, it will end up like that or like Anderson vs Weidman. We shall see.

Yeh Aldo will wrestle fuck him for 5 rounds twice.

Yeah, i'd much rather see 13 seconds get a rematch than the guy who is the ex LW champ on a big win streak.

Not necessarily. Cloner has a huge reach and power advantage over Aldo. I do agree a rematch would go differently if Aldo took a measured approach and worked his kicks and clinch work. I do think Aldo could definitely win as well if he could either tire Cloner out or get him to the ground. Still, the great equalizer is that straight left and that reach. Cloner has a lot of power and it's a missle. If Aldo could stay on the outside or survive the early onslaught, he's definitely got a shot. I'd really like to see it.

After Cloner fights Edgar.

Nah

People didnt want a rematch because it was promoted twice back to back.

Aldo has been offered that fight 3 times now and only turned up once on fight night and lasted 13 seconds.

Think everyone would prefer to see the frankie fight

Add to that Aldo hasn't shown the greatest gas tank in all of his fights either. I'm worried like I was for the first, hate to see Aldo lose again.

Well, Cloner's advantages are real and he's a good striker. Yes he has holes in his game to exploit, but size and power are the great equalizers and when used correctly huge advantages in a fight. Aldo is skilled enough to win, but he has to fight the right way. He's also diverse enough. However, he could get hurt and finished by Cloner again.

In reality, I heavily favor Frankie if he can survive the first few minutes against Cloner. Frankie can get rocked and he's much, much smaller than Cloner. If he gets beyond the start and begins to work the clinch, use his angles laterally to strike and shoot for takedowns he's definitely the favorite, but all of that is much easier said than done.

It's crazy how many people have written off Jose. You can make a strong argument he's top 5 best ever to do it. Guy has one of the best resumes in the sport. It's hilarious to see Conor fans freak out because some people are starting to write off Conor yet are quick to say Jose is done.

Aldo deserves a rematch and Frankie deserves a crack at Conor too. Whoever is ready should get it the next fight with the other on stand by.

I think the ring rust, coming back from an injury and emotions caused Aldo to recklessly attack without first finding his range and rhythm. Getting caught didn't prove anything and anyone can get knocked out. Conor would have been knocked out if Nate wasn't merciful on him and end it with the choke.

I agree Franky is the better match up at this point. Frankie has shown against much bigger guys that he can take them into deep water and wear them down. He will work to get Cloner into the later rounds and then take over if he can get it there. Frankies wrestling is fucking top notch, his control game is more then Cloner can handle if he can get it to the latter rounds

you may be right. but cain also had to take a match with bigfoot before he got his rematch. aldo gets hurt a lot. and frankie edgar just dismantled the number 2 fw at the time. so give frankie the shot first. and if conor gets passed him we will see if aldo can beat mcgregor. i honestly think that if aldo doesnt get ko'd in 13 seconds, he has a good shot at beating conor. but aldo's gas tank is not that good (conor's isnt good either). and i feel that if conor touches up aldo like he did diaz, aldo crumbles(unlike diaz)

Hey Aldo fans where have you guys been

I'm a huge Aldo fan (at least I was before he turned down replacing RDA) and I'd rather see Frankie fight. Let/make Aldo fight Holloway.

Maybe... I don't know. I just want to see them fight for longer than it takes Dana to make another stupid decision.

I've thought this as well. I wouldn't guarantee it'll look like JDS/Cain, but there's a solid chance.
