The ABILITY TO FINISH = The Magic of Fighting

The UFC already does its best to bury someone like Belal because of your bullshit “it’s entertainment” take

There really is kind of a culture war in the MMA community between people who want MMA to be a sport vs those that want it to be entertainment

I think some of you will be surprised now much less “entertaining” all of this will become once MMA strays too far away from the sport side

Not every fight can be the most exciting fight ever, not every matchup can be the most exciting matchup ever, not every storyline can be the most exciting storyline ever… that doesn’t mean you should try to rig everything to make that happen as the UFC is trying to do more and more

In sports when amazing things happen they’re amazing because they don’t happen all the time and nobody is rigging it to happen, it’s happening naturally and that’s what makes it amazing.

Good post,totally agree.

Some fighters careers completley get passed over, and we never know what could be,what could have been over this horse shit.

Imagine not wanting to truly know who the best is. Only who is the most "entertaining"

I'm "dumb" to say I pay for entertainment?

I think you are dumb AF to say it's not for entertainment.

What are we paying money for, then, if not for our entertainment?
To keep uneducated derelicts alive?

If a fighter is not entertaining, to me, then I'm not going to pay to see them fight.

Are you saying you feel differently?
Do you feel obligated to "pay fighters' salaries," even if you don't like the way they fight?

Do you buy music, if you don't like the sound?
Do you watch movies, if you don't like the content?

I mean wake up and smell the coffee dude.

Fighting = entertainment. Nothing less, nothing more.
If fighters are not entertaining, people won't pay to see them.

Going all out, for the finish, = fighting entertainment.
"Safely" looking for "a points decision" = boredom.

You are dumb for acting like you dont pay to see one fighter who is on a card that has 10 fights. Thats why people are laughing at you right now. There are a bunch of fights going on with different fighters,I can try to draw you a picture tho.

You're dumb by saying nothing relevant to the point of this post.

How many fights someone has has nothing to do with their intent.

There are people with two fights, who fight to finish. They are exciting to watch.

There are people with 30 fights, who cautiously "try not to lose." They are boring to watch.

You keep harping about what you "pay for" and we'll keep laughing,as if people pay for each fight individually.

You keep forgetting that, how many individual fighters fight "like I want" determines whether I will pay for the fight card or not.

Thats fuckin adorable!

Thats fuckin adorable!

Which fight card would you pay more to see, cum-stain:
  1. Khamzat vs. Pereira; Olivera vs. Dariush; Volkanovski vs. Yair ... Or
  2. Belal vs. Edwards; Adesanya vs. Alvey; Aljo vs. Cejudo II
Answer honestly which fight card you think might be more exciting, and why.

Which would you pay for, if you could only see one?

Thank you, and yeah, this mindset has always and would always exist, but the UFC is unintentionally training people to think this way as well.

For example, I see casuals in YouTube comment sections wanting Pereira to get a shot at 205 just so Izzy can fight him for the 205 belt because that’s a great story… if that happens naturally, it would be a great story, but the mindset to see a potential future fight, and try to rig things to make that fight happen is so bad.

And in this case it’s the reverse where a guy is seen as not entertaining, so let’s bury him… killing any potentially special thing that could happen naturally.

Maybe another great story would come out in another way, you never know, that’s what makes sports so captivating.

You're an "imagination" guy. You imagine that I'm upset with you. (Annoyed at your denseness, but upset? Um, no.)

Since the beginning of the fight game, fight trainers I've always said to their fighters, "Don't leave it up to the judges."

Do you have the wherewithal to realize that literally means fight for a finish?

This not only rules out any chance for discrepancies in judging, but it also gives the fans the satisfaction of a concrete result.

I don't need any medication; my pulse rate is like that of Michael Myers.

You're clearly a metrosexual, so I doubt we will ever agree on anything.

That's okay.

As long as the majority of MMA fans have GSP as their GOAT(which he very well could/should be) i don't wanna hear shit about fighters being boring or lack of finishing ability.

MFers used to dickride the shit out of Chael(they still do) and he couldn't finish his lunch and just layed on dudes for 5 rounds with the softest punches ever and yet the majority of fans still cheered him over the finisher highlight reel Anderson.

Too many MMA fans pick and choose which fighters to chastise over being boring or not being able to finish consistently yet almost all major polls have GSP as the GOAT. That's double standard hypocrisy.
