As a lot of you know, I have a lot of love for this sub. I can name about 500 posters I really enjoy the presence of, so this is tricky. If you’re left off I really apologize. I do make an effort to mix it up.

@TARTARA - one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. I initially didn’t really understand what was going on, but once I got to know him and some of the shoop guys took him under their wing, he’s turned into a really great presence. Contributions for shooping is fantastic, and very comical and fun.

@fortheo - I will always nominate this poster. Hands down, one of the most intelligent, reasonable, and well spoken guys on the board. Shares my love for some of my favorite fighters like rob font and Calvin Kattar.

@giovanni_ss - this last year he’s been the premier thread starter for news threads. Not only does he update them, keep them current, label them concisely and add relevant media, but he also typically adds polls and doesn’t shy away from the lesser stories that still generate fun discussion. On top of that, he stepped up as a mod a good chunk through the year, and has made massive contributions on the back end. Plus, he’s clearly one of the nicest guys on the forum.

@Hellowhosthat - Funny, charismatic…but more than anything else he consistently blows me away with his in depth knowledge of worldwide MMA and non ufc orgs. The guy really cares about the sport and I can’t wait to see what kind of new ideas he’ll continue to bring forward.

@Viking Power - one of the most enjoyable regulars on the website. I’ve had the pleasure of talking with him a few times, and the discussions are always outstanding. Very friendly, very reasonable. Great temperament. I always get excited when I have a notification from him cause I know it’ll be a solid chat.

@Kryptt One if the most fun regulars in the pbp. From calling for everyone to finish their drink after a nut shot, to comical gifs, I always enjoy his presence, and it wouldn’t feel like a true pbp if there’s no @Kryptt

@Substance Abuse This guys grown so much from the time I first met him. He’s always been a fun poster, but he’s definitely ramped up the intelligent posting and added a calmness to his demeanor that suits him really well.

@PurpleStorm - If you don’t know, now you know. Coolest car in the heavies, and arguably one of the nicest dudes you’ll ever meet. He’s really taken to the mod thing on, and I suspect will be a top class mod for a very long time on the website.

@Shay Brennan - newer poster who I have really high hopes for. Very engaged in a lot of fun discussions, and recently has been making some ranking/rating threads that are quite fun.

@Ironnik94 - What can I say? He’s a main stay in the heavies by now. Classy. Very intelligent. And I have to say the shoops he did this year for ms paint were fucking great.

@BFoe - One of the dudes that keeps me coming back every year. There’s a familiarity and level of sincerity in his posts that makes him very enjoyable to chat with. Lots of fun on fight nights, and he’s brought some great energy to the plat pick ems and I’d argue, has really brought that part of the website to life.

@Jackonfire - I mean, he’s the goat. Most consistent, fair, and overall chill mod. His constant dedication to making timely pbp threads makes him a lock in for me every year.

It's that time of the year once again for our annual Sherdog Year-End Awards.


I'm your host this year, giovanni_ss

The UFC in 2021 has been a blast. We have watched lots of great events: From Max Holloway starting the year off with a 5 round beatdown of Calvin Kattar, to finally bringing back the crowd on a PPV event during this pandemic era at UFC 261, and of course, witnessing Julianna Peña 'shook up the world' as she pulls an unbelievable upset against the GOAT WMMA fighter, Amanda Nunes. So many new stars have emerged and new champions have been crowned.

We had lots of up and downs. Lots of breaking news, feel good moments, (and some not so good ones) and we definitely had a ton of discussions about these topics in the Heavies all year long. And though we might have lost some friends (old posters) along the road, we have met new ones. And certainly, we have a lot of mainstay posters who had a stellar and breakthrough year.​



With that being said, let's open this years' nomination for the:
FrankieNYC Award (2021 Heavies Poster of the Year)

- This prestigious award goes to the poster who represents the best aspects of the Heavies: Substantial contribution, insightful posts, solid judgment, loyalty, wit, humor, intellect, helpfulness, and being a positive presence on the forums for the whole year.

"Moving forward, the (Heavies Poster of the Year) award will be known as the FrankieNYC Award. @FrankieNYC passed away from unknown health complications about a year and a half ago. He left behind a legacy of radiant positivity, friendship and a hunger for deep and meaningful conversations about the sport of mixed martial arts. He set an impossibly high bar during his time on this website, and he represents everything this award stands for. I hope that this small gesture can serve as a way to inspire other posters to do the same, and in some small way carry on the spirit and excellence of Frankie" - Zebra Cheeks (2020)

HOW THE NOMINATION WORKS:

1. Submit your nominations for who you believe should be the 2021 Heavies Poster of the Year by simply tagging your nominees in this thread. Mods and Admins are also qualified. NOTE: *You are not allowed to nominate yourself.*

2. We're gonna let everybody get the chance to give their nominations, and we'll keep this thread open for a few days. The 20 most popular nominees will then be collected and we will establish an elimination poll where you will then vote for who will move on to the final round.

3. The 10 posters with the most votes will be the posters who move on to the final round.
