News The 2020 Likepocalypse

@jei is there a way we can know how many likes we have left to dish out?

- also can we have likes carried over to the next day if we don't use them all?

There's a list going around of the Top 20 members with the most Likes.

In short, if you didn't have over 100,000 Likes, you weren't on it.

Haven't heard of any members other than those 20 that found out how many Likes they had.

I was asking about the 25 per day we get. I want to know if there is a way to keep track of how many we've used. A way that doesn't involve me having to use my memory. ;)

Whilst I understand the database reasons for the deletion of all the historical like records, my suggestion is to increase the Likes-allocation from 25 per day to 50 per day for all belts over White Belt.
That should be enough for 90 or 95% of posters here and probably shouldn't impact the database in the bad way it was before, database problems that had built up over probably several years.
OR
25 likes-per day white belt, and then FIVE more-per-day for each belt up from there. That again would prevent the total likes from becoming a deluge and it would be easy to implement I think as a parameter for each belt class.

just a couple of suggestions.

Also, the P&M forum has been dead for years, but its been even deader since the Likeopolos.

A way to get it to have increased traffic is to allow members to give unlimited Likes to posts just within that forum. Members would come back to post there and also give Likes to other posts.

I wouldn't be against doing the same for other nearly dead forums here like the Training Discussion forums.

I bet around 50% of the Likes overloading the server were from the Heavies (I'm guessing, but you mods probably have the stats) but the other forums are starting to suffer for it.

Yea I'm kinda disappointed in this site tbh

Alot of ironing needs to be done

What kind of insecure, basement-dwelling nerd gives 2 shits about some other nerd clicking 'like' on a fucking forum post? Jesus Christ, just get rid of it along with anyone who gives a shit about 'likes'.

Sherdog won’t stop stealing my likes. I had 140 like notifications for my Jones huffing spray paint post and you guys took them all.

I’m taking legal action to recover my likes. You will be hearing from my lawyer!

Agreed, the only thing I used the likes for was as notifications on comments I made. Handy if you didn't post for a few days (which I typically do) and forgot what you commented on. It's a pain to click on your content and then find your post and then look and see if you want to respond to whomever liked or responded to your comments.

Now I just lose track of comments I made entirely. Not enough free time apparently.

There aren't 25 like-worthy posts a day on Sherdog bruv.

Lol imagine being such a D level forum that it can't even handle a like system
Sherdog is now the Bellator of MMA forums. LOL

The funny thing is that the new like system is basically the same as getting a Yellow Card. Nothing is worst than reading something you like, and not being able to quickly reward the poster.

Sounds like someone doesn't get enough likes.

there's a hack available to get more likes, but it's dependent on your post count.
