Can you think of any possible reason the director of an law enforcement + counterintelligence agency might be involved in a proposed immunity deal with someone who has published a lot of illegally obtained documents containing sensitive information?

Has anyone mentioned this? The Russian pop star who set up one of the Trump Tower meetings just made a music video about colluding with Trump.

Trump Russia news: Russian pop star makes music video about collusion

If you thought the Trump-Russia scandal couldn’t get weirder, think again.

A player in the various investigations — Russian pop music star Emin Agalarov, who helped arrange an infamous meeting with Donald Trump Jr. at Trump Tower in 2016 — has put out a music video jokingly portraying himself as involved in all sorts of shady activities connected to American politics.

The video, flagged by CNN’s Hunter Schwarz on Twitter, features Emin carousing with impersonators of Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Hillary Clinton, and even Stormy Daniels. Emin hands over mysterious briefcases and envelopes, as he repeatedly sings “You got me so good, you really got me so good.” Here’s the video.
Who is Emin Agalarov, and why is he doing this?

Emin and his wealthy developer father, Aras Agalarov, worked with Trump to host the Miss Universe pageant in Russia several years back. They spent time with Trump during his short trip to Moscow for the pageant in November 2013 — a trip that has been the subject of endless intrigue and conspiracy theorizing in recent years.

The Agalarovs took Trump out on the town for various events during the trip, and Trump also made time to shoot a cameo for one of Emin’s music videos. Trump was very grateful and sounded keenly interested in working with them on future Russia-based business deals, including a Moscow Trump Tower. According to Michael Isikoff and David Corn’s book Russian Roulette, Emin’s sister showed up to Trump Tower soon afterward “bearing a gift for Trump” — a box with a sealed letter from Putin.

Fast-forward to the presidential campaign. In June 2016, Emin had his publicist, Rob Goldstone, contact Donald Trump Jr. with a message from his father Aras. The “Crown prosecutor of Russia” had some information that could “incriminate” Hillary Clinton, Goldstone wrote in an email. “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump — helped along by Aras and Emin,” Goldstone continued.

Don Jr. responded enthusiastically (“If it’s what you say I love it”), called Emin to chat, and they arranged the now-notorious meeting with a Russian delegation at Trump Tower for a few days later.

When Don Jr.’s meeting became known last summer (confirmed in emails he himself released), it seemed to quite clearly show Trump’s team willing to accept campaign help from the Russian government. However, all parties involved claimed, and continue to claim, that the meeting ended up being a dud and let nowhere.

Emin didn’t seem particularly bothered by the development. Documents later released by the Senate Judiciary Committee show Goldstone texting Emin in a panic, worrying about his own reputation being destroyed because he was being painted as “some mysterious link to Putin.” Emin responded: “That should give you mega PR,” with a wide-eyed, eyebrows-raised emoji face.

Now, it’s Emin himself who appears to want “mega PR,” with this new video positively embracing (humorously) his starring role in the collusion investigation. After all, he lives in Russia so he isn’t in any legal danger from Robert Mueller’s probe.
What... what is up with this video?

The video shows Emin shadily meeting and hanging out with impersonators of Trump, Ivanka, Stormy Daniels, and Hillary Clinton — all as he’s being surveilled by a shadowy figure.

It sets some scenes, with Emin and Trump, at the 2013 Miss Universe pageant. “I wish you at least would be honest, I wish that you told me the truth,” Emin croons as footage of him and Trump plays. (Despite the video, the lyrics generally sound like they refer more to a romantic relationship.)

At one point, the video shows a shows a shadowy figure at a computer terminal watching a video of Trump partying in a hotel room with several bikini-clad women and Emin himself. The figure then erases Trump from the video, in what’s clearly a reference to the “pee tape” rumor. Is Emin alluding that he knows something?

But, lest you view any of this as an admission, Emin also shows himself paying off Stormy Daniels in an elevator, and socializing with a hard-drinking Hillary Clinton. Mark Zuckerberg shows up too. Eventually, the whole group hangs out together to play a round of collusion poker, and the shadowy figure surveilling them all is revealed to be a popcorn-eating Kim Jong Un, because ... why not.

Also, near the end, Emin briefly plays actual footage of Trump himself wishing him a happy birthday, recorded back in 2014. Mega PR indeed.

Judge TS Ellis today made an objection for Manafort, saying an objection would be Mueller appointment may violate Appointment Clause . He even cited Calbriese but then proceeded to say that objection would likely fail because Mueller is obviously an inferior officer who has to report to the DAG

Virginia judge Trump praised rejects Manafort Mueller argument.

In May, a federal judge in Virginia named T.S. Ellis III asked some pointed questions of Robert Mueller’s special counsel prosecutors during a hearing related to former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Manfort’s lawyers were arguing that Mueller exceeded the bounds of his instructions to investigate 2016 Russian election tampering by charging Manafort with Russia-connected financial crimes he allegedly committed several years ago; as Slate wrote at the time:

Ellis, a Ronald Reagan appointee who sits in the Eastern District of Virginia, told prosecutors: “You don’t really care about Mr. Manafort’s bank fraud. You really care about getting information Mr. Manafort can give you that would reflect on Mr. Trump and lead to his prosecution or impeachment.”* Ellis further cautioned the special counsel’s office against seeking “unfettered power” and said its statements that it is investigating allegations related to the 2016 election amount to “lying.”

This verbal aggression got the attention of America’s president, Donald Trump, who read some of Ellis’ remarks aloud approvingly at an NRA event the next day and called him “a highly respected judge” who is “very special.”

Even at the time, though, legal observers cautioned that Ellis’ musings in court did not amount to a belief that Manafort should go free; moreover, Manafort is also charged with other crimes in Washington, D.C., where a judge recently revoked his bail and sent him to jail over suspected witness tampering. And, completing the loop, Ellis has now issued a ruling asserting that Mueller’s charges against Manafort are in fact legitimate. Wrote Ellis:

The May 17 Appointment Order plainly authorizes the investigation of indirect links between Trump campaign officials and the Russian government in addition to more direct connections. In this regard, the May 17 Appointment Order authorizes the Special Counsel to investigate defendant’s ties with individuals financially and politically supported by the Russian government, even where, as here, those individuals are not themselves members of the Russian government.

It is “plausible” and indeed ultimately persuasive,” he said further, “to argue that the [Manafort] investigation and prosecution has some relevance to the election which occurred months if not years after the alleged misconduct.”

So, there you go! An apology from the White House will no doubt be forthcoming.

Next up on the fail list is the IGs report lmao .I ventured into great awakening again and some how it's more retarded everytime . Saw a thread saying Obama will move to Kenya and declare citizenship before US can prosecute based on IG report.... LOL

That's not very nice, Joe. We may disagree about politics, but that's no reason to be insulting. Just because Aunty Maxine has abandoned civility doesn't mean you must follow suit.

I never thought Calabresi's argument was all that strong, even if it is technically meritorious (not sure either way). It doesn't make intuitive sense to suggest Mueller isn't an "inferior officer" because Trump can fire Mueller at any time – even if he must do so indirectly by directing Rosenstein act. To that end, Trump's big problem isn't that he lacks power to act, but that it would be politically hazardous. I personally think Trump could fire Mueller and his poll numbers would improve. There would be no consequences except more tantrums from the Democrats (which they do all the time anyway).

That's not to say Calabresi's argument is without merit. But it is academic (fitting, considering that Calabresi is a professor), and would rely on technical details bearing on Mueller's independence from Rosenstein. I wouldn't expect a district Court to venture too far into these philosophical inquiries. They are better suited to the courts of appeal, or the Supreme Court. Judge Ellis went with the most straightforward, commonsense analysis, and that's what I'd expect him to do.

Anyway, I don't think Manafort is a great proxy for these arguments if there's sufficient cause to bring an indictment against him. For one, if a Court dismisses Mueller's probe, there's nothing to stop the DOJ from prosecuting Manafort through ordinary channels. Manafort's arguments, which concerned DOJ regulations and whether Mueller's probe is an ultra vires, are best raised by someone else – preferably president Trump, in opposition to something relatively innocuous, like a discovery request or subpoena. Ultimately, I am not convinced that the best arguments for terminating Mueller's probe have even been raised yet. As Judge Ellis noted, "The appointment of special prosecutors has the potential to disrupt [our system of] checks and balances, and to inject a level of toxic partisanship into investigation of matters of public importance."

Why do people keep saying this before the report comes out. It's more accurate for you to just say "that will be it" regarding the Mueller findings when they are made public. I know that's what you meant but still...

This is an interesting point. What if Mueller comes out and says trump and those working for him committed crimes and the gop just ignored it?
 
Seems trump is back to saying and believing what putin tells him about not having anything to do with the election
