I always thought this too but after that updated quote in the op I think his low pay had something to do with it too, easy to see why he wasn’t motivated to come back even if he did recover

I think he recovered, but the UFC didn't care.

Dropped him from rankings. Stopped contacting him. Even cancelled his fight pass lol.
