International Syria Discussions, v2: Arab League Urges Iran Not To Fuel Strife In Syria

LOL @ People in here rooting for fucking Al Qaeda then go into other threads lecturing about the threat of terrorists and Islamist extremism...

They are very moderate when the other choice is Assad's industrialized mass torture, starvation, killing, gassing machine.
Assad is a POS, but let's not act like he's able to actually run his country with crippling sanctions, the US controlling 30% of the countries land mass (Where the oil and wheat is) and the whole "gassed his own people" claim was debunked by the OPCW whistleblowers. That was clearly a false flag to be used as grounds to invade and apply sanctions.

Assad can't run his country because after so many years of civil war he is so scared of his own troops that he is willing to let SAA loot whatever the fuck they can as long as they stay loyal.

He also overrelied on Russians and Iranians/hezbollah who got themselves into unwinnable wars

By that logic, are people here defending Assad cheering for Iran and the Ayatollah? or does your logic only works one way?
I'm criticizing the US support of terrorist groups, many who aren't even Syrian, doing regime change in a foreign country. I'm not cheering on anything.

Those are factors as well. The whole country has been a hotbed for a dirty war for a long time with many countries being involved.

Nobody is supporting terrorists, they are just glad to see Assad, Russia and Iran get fucked in the ass.

That's not the same as saying you support terrorists.

Yes, but the biggest factor is that Assad thought he was invincible with Russia and Iran by his side and decided to do nothing to transition to a more stable country after "winning" the civil war.

He, like most despots decided to go even more despotic.

When was this ever "debunked" lol.

Isn't it interesting the media are calling them "Rebels".

Same with "Houthis Rebels" when they were lobbing missles into Saudi Arabia... Now they are Houthi Terrorists after messing with Israel/

Seems like the distinction between "Terrorist" and "Rebel" is whether you're fighting the West and Israel VS their adversaries.

Those Rebels will once again be called Terrorists 5 years later when Israel seeks another Syrian landgrab.

Not to be a dick here,
But them beeing on the terrorist org. list might also have something to do with them attempting to sabotage the worlds shipping lanes and potentionally cause economic havoc.

Hell didn't Trump already add them to that list before?

I'm talking about the media here, not your joke lists.

Look up the headlines regarding Houthis prior to October 7. Naval sabotage and blockade was kids play compared to what they did to the Yemeni people, but of course they weren't terrorists back then...

They were a designated terror org before Biden came into office but Biden removed them from the list because the Houthis controlled a significant portion of Yemen and because of their designation as a terror group it was making it legally harder to get aid to the areas they controlled. No one was under any illusions that they were a cute and cuddly group but the decision was made to prioritize the well being of Yemeni citizens living under Houthi rule.

They were added to the list again in 2024 after being continually warned that if they didn't stop their attacks against shipping in the Red Sea they would be designated once again as a terror organization.

For anyone who has followed this closely, is there any chance that this will weaken Assad's hand to the point he would consider federalism, and if he did so would Turkey actually let it happen?

Mind sharing your reserach?
Genuinely interested.
I appreciate your genuine interest.

This all revolves around the initial OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) Team that investigated the matter, their findings, and how they were censored, edited, and silenced.

Here is a good start:

I know you'll probably just drop a laugh emoji, criticize the source, and go about your business but there it is if you are being genuine.
