Sweden Implementing Draft Due to Low Enlistment Numbers.

"Anecdotes from the period indicates that the campaign was not popular amongst soldiers - not least because soldiers who were home on leave could find themselves presented with the feathers.

One such was Private Ernest Atkins who was on leave from the Western Front. He was riding a tram when he was presented with a white feather by a girl sitting behind him. He smacked her across the face with his pay book"

LMAO - BTFO dumb bitch
Bro you left out the best part...

I'm in civvies because people think my uniform might be lousy, but if I had it on I wouldn't be half as lousy as you

Nah, best part was when he bitch-slapped her.

I did 11 month of military service, I was in one of the last Groups that had to do it.

Probably one of my happiest and most fun times I have had. You grow a lot as a person and i would recommend it.

My experience was that the people who didn't want to do military service didn't because they wanted to get an head start to college or travel. Not because of feminism LOL.

Do other "less feminist" country's have people dying to do military service? I don't think so just look at Saudi Arabia and their weak army.

I had to do military service as well in Germany. Looking back no maybe the best time in my life.
I mean basic training and some other aspect sucked at the time. But looking back now I had an overall great time.

In Germany you had some people that don't want to do military service do some kind of social service.
Often those were jobs like driving an ambulance, meals on wheels or help with the basic task in a retirement home etc.

In general, I am in favor of having young men do a year of military service or social service. I think its character building etc.
Also, it's not ideal for a modern-day Army. You are more after the long term guys.

But yeah one downside of a Social Democracy is that you do not have enough poor people any more happy to join the Army :-).

I feel exactly the same, the comradery in the military is hard to beat. You also learn to respect and work with people from all walks of life (we even had a Muslim in my group, and he never killed or raped anyone go figure).

Another downside, its expensive as fuck! my group blow up 500 sek in 2 minutes one drill....

"In the United States, the white feather has also become a symbol of courage, persistence and superior combat marksmanship. Its most notable wearer was US Marine CorpsGunnery SergeantCarlos Hathcock, who was awarded the Silver Star medal for bravery during the Vietnam War. Hathcock picked up a white feather on a mission and wore it in his hat to taunt the enemy. He was so feared by enemy troops that they put a price on his head. Its wear on combat headgear flaunts an insultingly easy target for enemy snipers.[16]"

that's nothing. My grandfather wore an entire goose on his head.
