Surgery POSTPONED P#71. AMA

In my definitive Sherdog Prostate thread I discuss my journey with BPH.

In summary, have been on meds for six months. Have now had two urologists tell me the flow increase is not sufficient and that I risk permanent damage to my bladder due to retention.

Next week I'll be having my first ever hospital visit (one night is the plan) and surgery (water jet ablation of the prostate).

I will need to be sedated for the procedure and expect to have a catheter for 3 to 5 days. AMA!

You gonna try and sex your lady up while hooked up to the piss bag? It's a bucket list type item, lol.

Good luck, brother! My dad has prostate cancer and so did his dad but it’s not what killed my grandfather and it won’t kill my father either. Between my family history on my dad’s side, plus my mom being black, it’s basically inevitable that I will get prostate cancer at some point.

The plan is to make sure that I get it at an age where it won’t kill me. I watch what I eat, I exercise, I’ve lost weight, I avoid red meat for the most part. I take a prostate supplement which has worked wonders. I think I can live a long and healthy life despite some genetic issues which have affected me…

Good luck to everyone out there trying to fight to survive and thrive. I hope the best for ALL of us!

If you're not circumcised you may as well get them to do it. No point in continuing to look like an Anteater

How exactly can you plan on timing your cancer?

So it's recommended that white men get tested at age 50 for prostate cancer. Black men at age 45. Because black men tend to get it earlier and are more likely to die from it. I'm half black and half white. My black ancestry alone makes me more susceptible to it. Add in the family history on my white side, and it's essentially inevitable.

I would be pleasantly surprised if I somehow escape prostate cancer altogether. About a year and a half ago, I adopted a vegetarian diet. Not completely satisfied with the results, I became fully vegan and leaned out even further. I gave up the vegan diet but stayed disciplined and am in great shape and always looking to improve. I take a prostate supplement which has worked wonders. I sleep better, I don't have to get up to use the bathroom at all.

I'm expecting prostate cancer to kill my brother, sad to say, because of his poor diet and dangerous lifestyle and how phobic he is about doctors and things of that nature. I'm contemplating taking out a life insurance policy on him. He's my younger brother, and in many ways more genetically gifted than me, but he's burning the candle at both ends. He's going to resist being checked for prostate cancer. I don't like his odds of avoiding it in his 40s and 50s...

I do A LOT of the things recommended by the last source, and I've had it bookmarked for a while. Reading it again just now has encouraged me to start eating more soy again (yeah yeah, give me the soyboy jokes, it's a fucking myth and I'd rather be smart and still alive than a tough guy and die).

Ok, but didn't answer the question. You said the plan was to get it before an age where it can kill you...did you mean that is your hope? Or do you have a plan to induce the cancer at a certain age? Never heard of the latter being possible

It’s the exact opposite. The later that you get prostate cancer, the higher your chances of survival are. The plan is to delay getting the disease as long as possible. Diet, exercise, supplements, etc. all play a part in that.

Presently I am taking the #1 urologist recommended prostate supplement. It’s worked wonders for me. I don’t know how to explain it any better than I already have. I hope you have a better understanding now. If not, perhaps you should do some research on your own. I did provide some sources in previous posts.

Ahh, see you didn't explicitly say prostate cancer survival is higher with age; which is basically the antipodal to most every other cancer.

My mistake then. I’m not a doctor. I did my best to explain it and linked to some sources that I thought explained it better. Basically, prostate cancer in your 40s and even 50s equals death, especially if not caught early. Prostate cancer in your 60s and 70s means you’re probably going to die of something else.

Surgery postponed due to insurance shenanigans.

They can not confirm to the MD's satisfaction that the procedure is covered so I would have to pay a bundle up front and hope for the best. I can't risk it, so postponed. <sigh> I'm exhausted from this and am taking tomorrow off any way as a mental health day...
