Movies Superman (1978) vs Batman (1989)

I believe what was sposed to have happened is that Sups went faster that light and went back in time.
Oh shit, really? I haven't seen it since I was probably 13. All this time I thought he spun the earth in reverse and that made time go backwards.

Maybe I should give it another shot.

Edit: wait a minute... you can't go backwards by exceeding the speed of light....

Fuck off.

Batman is the movie I slightly prefer. Superman is the more iconic film but they’re both pretty iconic in their own ways. They both also were absolutely huge steps in the progression of comic-book based films.

Supes is a great origin story with an absolutely awesome performance from Reeve as both Kal and Kent. My only issue is that some of the stuff- whether it’s Brando and his wife saying goodbye (with the great Williams score amping up the emotion) or the stuff with Glenn Ford or the helicopter rescue or what have you that is played so seriously that it contrasts with all the stuff with Hackman and Beatty. That’s two great actors but it feels, at times, that they are in a different movie. I get the sense that it has the higher highs than Batman but might have lower lows as well.

Batman. Keaton is great. Nicholson is great. Burton and his team’s work is impressive. Elfmann’s score is epic. My only real complaint is that it sort of runs out of steam by the end. I thought this as a kid and I still think it- the going up staircase of the building to get to Joker and Vale seems interminable.

I saw both Batman and Returns on the big screen when they were briefly re released in recent years. Still a big fan of both but I like Returns more. I like it so much that I’d rank it as my second favorite Batman film to the Dark Knight.

How the hell do those two make it to the top so fast without both dying of exhaustion?!

Good question. They’re not even breathing particularly heavy from what I recall.

don’t get me wrong though, once Keats catches up to them and Jack does some more of his shenanigans, I’m on board again.

“You idiot! You made me!…that wasn’t easy to get over. And don’t think I didn’t try.”

That's not how it worked in End Game though. They weren't able to undo their own reality. They had to travel to other timelines and temporarily borrow their infinity stones to reform the Infinity gauntlet and make a wish. Still took an incredible amount of work to accomplish and they had to return the stones afterwards. They never got those 5 years back.

The Infinity gauntlet was the OP plot device in those movies, not the time travel aspect.
What happened to the one stone that got away and they had to then get it from an earlier time?

Joker had degree chemical engineering and applied sciences in the movie.

Fine arts too

That's true but Batman minored in Econ and was a CFP. The contrast in education is probably the highlight of the movie. Also, Prince.

Fantastic soundtrack. Batman Forever soundtrack, also great. The score to Returns, incredible as well.

You can't if current physics is to be believed BUT I think its in the realms of believability, moreso than the earth spinning backwards would turn back time.

I think that shot is sposed to be from sups perspective, you see him carrying on moving forwards so the earth spins backwards to represent time going backwards.
