Sulivan gets pulled for possible USADA violation, so Urbina suffers financially for it?

Both guys are newcomers to the UFC and lets face it not many people even have heard of them. Couple days prior to the event George Sulivan gets pulled for potential USADA violation, whatever it may be, so he gets pulled thereby voiding their fight.

So that means Hector Urbina, his scheduled opponent, now has no chance of getting a fight bonus or even show bonus maybe because of somebody else's mistake? How can this be acceptable..

Obviously it's not likely a replacement will emerge two days from fight night.. but also even if he still gets his show money, or even win money, this voids him from ever getting the chance at a performance of night bonus etc. which is utter BS.

Does the UFC do anything to help ammend this situation? Do you think he will get some sort of "locker room bonus" to make up for it?

Any info is appreciated.

BUT, even beyond that, Urbina doesn't get a chance to show the world was he is made of after months of preperation and training. Who knows, maybe he would have had the fastest KO ever or some crazy thing. Will never know because now he cannot fight unless something unlikely happens and he needs to replace somebody.

This USADA thing is totally unfair to the opponents of those punished. Something should be done. Look at Cormier, who made way less money and didn't get a chance to potentially defend his belt.

UFC typically gives the fighter their show money (according to Dana) if their opponent can't fight at the last minute.

He should get the other guys show money too.

Yeah, even with show money he still loses so much potential gains, which are not trivial matters. This is somebodys career and fame we are talking about.

What if for Conor's first two UFC fights his opponents pulled out last minute (due to intentional cheating), and nobody even knew he he was years after the hype began?

This is fucking with history. There should be a significant bonus.

I understand injuries, cannot be avoided sometimes.

But for somebody cheating? I really hope they have some policy to make up for it.

You guys wanted a cleaner sport...I didn't ask for this shit.

#dealwithit

It definitely should be something that's worked into there contracts. Show money at least. If it isn't then it's another reason for a fighters union.

I guess with USADA being so recent they have not had time to really think about these matters.. but they really should. It's ridiculous that somebody should suffer for somebody else's bad behavior.

So what do you want? He's getting a good chunk of pay for doing nothing. You keep talking about "What if's"... well, what if he was going to get his ass whipped and tossed out of the UFC? I agree that it's a shitty situation for him, but since he's already spun up pretty well, I'm sure he'll end up with another fight pretty soon. Guess we'll have to wait and see, better than him getting his shit pushed in by some guy who was hopped up on something. Again, there's no guarantee either way, but the whole point of USADA is to stop athletes from harming themselves, and to stop fighters who cheat from having a measurable advantage over their non-cheating opponents.

And I don't really feel all that bad about an already-famous-set-for-life millionaire like Daniel Cormier, who just earns less millions for Jon not being able to compete, compared with something like this in the case of Hector Urbina, who I did not even know before this news. He clearly will not be making millions and I bet that he really depends on the little he gets and every penny counts.

I'd love to see you rationalize that to his face.

This is his career, just starting out barely made a mark on the UFC. This is MONTHS of hard work and dedication. He needs the money, LITTLE that it already would have been.

Where is your sense of humanity and fairness, this is supposed to be the best mma org in the world how can you just accept something like that?

The point is they have MORE than enough means to make it right. They should.

Look at the flip side...Urbina could have considered this possibly happening before doing TUF and signing to fight in the UFC. Guess the contract was fine with him and his management. Yeah, this sounds heartless but I'm playing devil's advocate.

Oh...I guess they didn't have time to think about this before bringing USADA on either. Poor UFC and their employees so overworked...

“voluntarily disclosed information”

The new loophole going forward.

They should get the other fighters show money on tip of their own imo.

If not i wonder if he could sue the guy for breach of contract? Worth looking into i would think.
