i live in an apartment complex, and its pretty hard to find a long piece of tree to do axe chops. Can anyone give me some recoommendations on anything else i can do in place of this workout?

haha... hey. can i take a bat and just beat the shit out of a standing tree? or does it have to be downward motion?

I didn't know Horn was your coach, Emling. That's pretty cool.

Cable pulley wood chops. More of a core workout though.

Would probably be pretty tough on your wrists and I'm guessing you'd go through bats pretty quickly. Tyre and sledgehammer is your best bet for practicing this sort of exercise.

Actually you bring up a good point, sideways hammer swings are an excellent workout and are a very effective way to work on rotatrional core power.

Just use people.

1. Will extend bat life over trees
2. Allows for both sideways and downward swings (start with sideways and swap to downward once your victim has fallen).

Try shoveling dirt if there's any around. Or try swimming laps in the pool as fast as you can. Or simply do push ups as fast as you can.

Yeah, swimming/pushups/wood chopping are all basically the same thing ..............:icon_conf

Get a light medicine ball, and over head slam it into the ground as hard as you can. Very similar. You can throw it against a wall, do it one handed, etc as well.

You are going to break your medicine ball!

It's cool...just put the medicine back in it and seal it with some duck tape.

There you fucking have it. (viola!)

^^Isn't that assuming an indoor gym?

Ditch-digging with a pick in gravelbeds? Tractor tire? I'm going to have to keep up to date on this thread to find a solution myself.

I'm sorry, but wouldn't climbing a rope and pulling a weight along a rope be two excercises that would replace the sledge?
