DC ALWAYS has made a point to say he hopes Jon gets his shit together and doesn't actually want bad for him. Says a lot about the character of DC and Izzy imo

They were both just as bad. Only difference now is that DC is a figure in UFC as commentating staff, so he can't be as loose with his opinions anymore. Plus he's a family man, so he tries to set a good example. Compare to Izzy who doesn't have a family yet so he can act as brash as he wants to. That mindset most likely helped him reach the level he's at. DC has shown signs of it in the past. It's understandable, people trying to be the best in world are very competitive and have a different mindset.

Also the whole acting like kid bit as a parent I feel like isn't all the way true. Some of the better parents I've noticed know how to be young at heart. They actually become friends with their kids and not just an authoritative figure. They understand more of what's going on in their life because they can keep up with their interests instead of being completely blind to it like most parents. That's why you always hear the terms "you wouldn't understand or I don't understand" in the fighting between them.

Others have brought it up in this thread already but to piggy back… Cormier and Jones had a visceral beef and even though I rooted for Jones all the way through their fights etc, Cormier handles himself in a way that I applaud on a human level. He doesn’t stoop too low he also doesn’t actually wish harm to Jones or kick him while he’s down he actually wants to see him get help with the demons he faces. I can respect that. It speaks volumes about a mans character. Also, whereas Cormier is by far the 2nd best in the division’s history whereas Izzy is no actual threat to Jones and knows he would lose if he ever stepped up to face him even at this juncture (Izzy prime, Jones past his).
