everyone keeps talking about the bad fight iq in the other fight, but this seemed like a bad move to me when i was watching the fight.

struve let go of the leg lock and tried advancing position to get some gnp in only to have arlovski spring up out of the compromising situation. he still had a lot of time to work that submission.

Struve needs to learn to box

I think this fight was fixed just to make me lose my "Fight does not go the distance" bet

I'll admit I don't know jiu-jitsu, but Arlovski and Struve do, and IMO Struve looked like he was in more pain from AA attacking his own ankle there then AA looked hurt/uncomfortable. So it was a good call by Struve.

I really thought someone was getting KO'd 100% before i saw the fight. Struve looked HORRIBLE. The guy looked like just some random 7 foot super tough dude they pulled out of somewhere and gave him 8 months to train kickboxing.

Struve has a fuck ton of experience too.. I think this just shows you can have the biggest attributes going (he is the tallest fighter ever in the UFC) but sometimes things come at a cost.. in his case it means he is very uncoordinated and slow and has clumsy like movements because of his size. IN the case of someone like Ngannou he went 100% all in on one stat which is power shot and literally said fuck it who needs skills in MMA.. always interesting to see heavyweight but these guys that just rely on attributes and size never last in the long run in MMA..

The only thing that i think made it hard for Struve is one of andres best shots seems to be the counter over the top and Andre was landing some of those hard when Struve went to kick.

Can we really blame Struve for wanting to attack Arlovski's chin instead of his leg?

An ankle lock is a very low percentage move.. even lower when you're trying it against a International Master of Sport in Sambo. Struve used the ankle lock to sweep and get top position so It was hardly a display of bad fight IQ.

Was drunk but as i remember it he was doing a calve slicer that didn't do shit to Arlovski. So yeah i guess trying to improve position was ok, even though it didn't work out.

I am more concerned about Struve not being able to develop a good jab to keep opponents at a distance. He could just copy Sem Schilt and be fine.

Tough to be a Struve fan. Still my boy though.

I completely agree, looked like he had Andrei pretty tied up to where he could not roll out of a heel hook

He didn't have sh*t, Arlovski is nice on the ground and Struve bailed so as not to end up on bottom again.
