Strike tomorrow Feb 16

But what if this is a trick by conservatives to get their liberal workers to strike so they can fire them and then replace them with conservatives who will work??

Striking in support of open borders to maintain a system where organizing workers can easily be fired, undercut, and replaced by an endless stream of migrants. So powerful!

When's the day without illegal immigrants?

Literally nobody is against legal immigrants.

I stand with my brown brothers and sisters tomorrow because I know that they come for the vulnerable first, but make no mistake, they will get around to the rest of us unless we stand up and lay down on our own terms.

Very good points. First they deport illegal aliens, then what's stopping them from deporting all Americans?

I guess right-wingers don't realize what Putin's endgame is here. He wants to destroy America by deporting its entire population and this is just the beginning. If all Americans are deported then America won't exist and nobody can keep Russia's homophobia in check.

Stay strong brother.

Huh Putin? I don't think he's very important, though and homos and homophobes, paranoids and the rest enjoy and imulate his image:

That link makes it seem more like a border wall protest.

I'll partake in getting wasted now @ the bar

Right.

Well cheers to a fellow entrepreneur, but though I just run mine alone now after supporting many damned fools who could break an anvil.

I assume that with over 40 people working for you that your firm has yearly sales of over 1 million and less than 1 billion? Well congrats dudes like you pay the most taxes. You get screwed and I get that. Why do upright people like you think a billionaire who slides out of his responsibilities will implement policies that help you?
I have many differing political and sociopolitical views. I do not support any candidates or politicians as individuals, but I do support ideas. I have personally felt the squeeze of big government regulations making it MUCH more difficult to do business. I do believe that the market regulates itself, and the people who do right and are smart about it win. They offer a superior product for equal or less cost. The rest fall away.
I also deal with portions of my business wherein the government has seized control, like insurances, bonds, ADA requirements, and any and every opportunity to tax, license and surcharge. I agree with many regulations, but if you deal with it day after day, for many years it becomes apparent that so much shit trickles down to small business, even if only to show a government agency remains relevant and needed, it is sickening.
Every aspect of my business wherein the government has taken control is the most inefficient, donkey fuck, joke that it will quickly show anyone that bureaucracies have NO business trying to do anything.
As to Trumps business dealings:
Trump is a builder/developer, as am I. Every overblown critique of his dealings thrown up by the media are examples of how our industry operates across the board. It is not dictated by the individual, or the corporation, it is dictated by Contract Law (government and lobbyists/politicians/attorneys). It is likely the most legally complex business you can be in and everyone is a predator, from the bottom to the top.
So, I am a free market guy and I know from experience that no, single president has ever exacted cataclysmic change to our way of life. If I had to name one, I would say that Barack Obama changed the mindset, and direction, of our country as big league as FDR.

Thanks for the thoughts. As I will one day be a developer I consider them carefully. Obama was a terrible leader no doubt. I would love to have bureaucracy out of my life too, though as a lowly subcontractor, it has mostly been worker's comp and health insurance causing me trouble more than "government". One is of course a mandate of the other. But I think the insurance companies and their investors call the shots to the government. See Obama.

The quality of workmanship and just general character of the Latinos I interact with is just better than most of the white dudes left in construction. Our culture is fu$%ed. 90% of young white kids you try to train in a trade are worse than worthless even before they do you the favor of not showing up anymore. So I end up needing Mexicans, and Iook out for the interests of people I rely on.

I completely agree.
We had meetings on our projects and let the guys know we would have their back if the shit hit the fan, and that it would be to the best interest of everyone if they acted like Americans rather than immigrants. Most actually showed up, but there are a few who are moving on.
Best of luck with your ambitions. It's not easy, but certainly doable. Always better than working "for the man".
