Strickland needs a sports psychologist

Strickland needs to be sent back to his childhood so his dad could teach him a good lesson on how to strike.

He's like a shitty videogamer who finds an exploit and spams it nonstop. Once someone figures him out, he's done.
100% what I thought during the fight. He needs to add dimensions or he won’t get beyond his current ceiling.

Stickland is still a nightmare matchup for most of the top 10: tough to take down and hold down, great low kick defense, better boxing than nearly everyone in the division and probably the best gas tank north of 185.

So yeah: he doesn't have what it takes to beat Dricus, but he is not far off. I'd be more worried about Adesanya's future/mental state than Sean's.

Maybe it is the fear of success? I can't believe his fight IQ is this low. So many opportunities for takedowns with those wild swings and kicks. So many opportunities to unleash combinations. But Strickland plods on predictably and methodically like it is a 10 round fight. For whatever reason Strickland doesn't seem to want the belt.
Did you lose a bet? He got beat up. It wasn't his lack of trying, DDP whipped his ass.

Strickland needs much more output, he just doesn't throw enough, he lost fights like Cannonier and DDP twice because he just ain't throwing enough.

He's a primarily defensive fighter who faced an opponent with a great variety of offensive tools. Just didn't have an answer for it. The head kick early on seemed to make him extra cautious.

Strickland was probably banking on making it close in the late rounds, but the nose break prevented that from happening.

I dont think he could have done anything even if his nose didnt break.

DDP's attacks just stifled him. Even if DDP missed alot of shots, the attempts shut Strickland down. DDP may have landed only half the shit he threw but it was enough to win cos Strickland could barely throw anything.

It's Sean's usual problem of not throwing enough, but DDP made it worse for him to get started.

A guy as comfortable in the limelight and "I dont give a fuck" as Strickland isnt going to fear success. Plus he already got the belt proving hes willing to go all the way. If he truly feared success he wouldve self sabotaged before that.

He just straight up needs therapy in general and people need to acknowledge that he's a one dimensional fighter. He is the stand up equivalent a crotch sniffing lay and pray merchant. He's got his stand up defense which manifests physically as fear, a jab, a teep kick, no right hand, no wrestling or ground game and it's not that he has no concept of urgency, he flat out doesn't have a modern rounded MMA skillset to capitalize on anything.

If he wasn't playing up the Colby pandering to the base shtick outside the cage he wouldn't even be relevant anymore.
He has a black belt in jiu jitsu and can wrestle. You will notice he gets up from almost everyone's takedowns. He has a skill set to do more but seems to be one dimensional by choice.

Takedowns would be a struggle, after his bike accident one of his legs has some tendons completely missing.
