Dudes, please… this movie ain’t got Zendaya money left in the casting budget after Momoa’s fee.

Now, I wouldn’t mind more melanin on the Cammy they actually end up casting… as long as (a) they cast someone with an actual English accent; (b) they put her in something resembling the source material costume; and most important of all (c) they get someone who can do a significant portion of the fight choreography herself!

I mean, it’s a big island, it can’t be that hard to dig up a British equivalent of Rayna Vallandingham, right?

I know, I'm just pointing out how studio execs think with IPs they don't give a fuck about. Historically SF has been treated like shit. Van Damme was the one well know actor who could kick so they got him for it. With these movies its like they grab the closest resembling famous one who slightly resembles a character and that's a wrap. If someone saw Blanka and thought ''Jason Mamoa'' they're probably not putting that much thought it.

I like him as an actor though. He could probably do it I just don't think they wanted to bother looking too far. I felt the same about Hugh Jackman as Wolverine but he did well. It's one of those things I felt he was a place holder ... and now we're due an inevitable reboot will probably have a more dedicated crew looking for someone who matches the role better.

Also to call a spade a spade, they announc Mamoa, likely the biggest name they have lined up, first ... so they are clearly putting weight into using star power. We're not getting some slow release of names but it's just ''look at our famous bloke.'' Mamoa was excelent in Minecraft so I'm not going to dismiss him I just think these are bad signs. We've seen this done before.
