ASPEN, Colo. -- The Jeep Ski Slopestyle Women's final Sunday was delayed during the warmup session and again during the second-to-last run of the afternoon after two skiers crashed and received medical attention at X Games Aspen 2013.

Rose Battersby and Ashley Battersby, no relation, were both transported off the course and taken to a hospital.

Rose Battersby suffered a lumbar spine fracture, according to X Games Medical, and is being transferred to Denver.

Rose Battersby was moving and could feel all extremities, X Games Medical said.

Ashley Battersby, who was bumped off the podium by Kaya Turski's final run, injured her left leg, according to X Games Medical.

She crashed on a switch 900 on the final jump of her third run.

I think youre seeing patterns where patterns should exist. Its fucking snowboarding! People get injured.

The only 2 people injured today at the Witer X games ski slopestyle have the same somewhat rare last name.

Im going to attribute this thing to to the impending economic collapse america will undergo in the next few years, like a slow motion red dawn , its alright, im gonna make it anyway, i dont need things, i got me, lets just say the chimps in a terrarium would let me live

It's odd but not like JFK/Lincoln odd.

OFF-TOPIC: Also, the term "no relation" is commonly used but I've always found it to be confusing. For example my last name is Lawlor, like UFC fighters Tom Lawlor & now Robbie Lawler, I've never met them nor am I from the same country as them. But names rarely just come out of nowhere, somewhere up the line it's very likely we have common ancestors a few hundred years back, so I'm probably related to them, even if its marginal. People should be saying "no immediate relation" or something along those lines. /rant.

And 2 brothers crashed during the Snowmobile freestyle finals on Thursday, about 30 minutes apart.

Caleb Moore underwent surgery for a heart contusion Friday morning after he suffered serious injuries in the Snowmobile Freestyle finals Thursday night at X Games Aspen.

Moore came up short on an indy air backflip attempt, augering into the snow as his 450-pound sled tumbled over him. Moore was knocked unconscious in the crash, and he was evaluated for a concussion and other injuries Thursday night.

"While Caleb was being evaluated late last night, he developed bleeding around the heart and was urgently flighted to Grand Junction [Colo.]," according to an X Games Medical report issued Friday morning. "He underwent surgery this morning. The procedure went well, and Caleb is currently in ICU with a heart contusion."

-snip-

His brother Colten Moore, also injured during the Snowmobile Freestyle final, was treated Thursday night at Aspen Valley Hospital for a separation of the pelvis (pubic diastasis) and will not require surgery, according to X Games Medical. Colten Moore was released from the hospital Saturday.

Colten Moore, 23, won gold in the event in 2012, sharing the podium with Caleb, 25, who won bronze. The brothers from Krum, Texas, just north of Dallas, are also known for their showmanship on the Feld Motorsports Nuclear Cowboyz tour.

On a side note, whoever was on the medical staff when Caleb crashed should be fired. Dude lands on his face and has a sled land on his back, and you don't take any kind of precautions to protect his neck and spine? You just let him walk off?
