My 401k has been pretty much my only investment to date, but I decided today to get into the stonk game. Loaded up a Robinhood account and now I'm going to take some time to figure out my first move.

your first move is to get the fuck off robinhood. the only possible exception is if it's only for occasional options trading...

otherwise, you'll be better off with basically any other broker.

Any in particular you recommend?

Just from personal experience, I'd reccomend Fidelity. Been with them for years. Have friends who are with Charles Schwab, and would recommend it as well. Just do your homework and pick whichever you feel comfortable with.

Keep buying gold stonks. They keep going down. Considering buying Maverix Metals. Streaming and royalty companies tend to do pretty well. I'll wait a few days to see how silly things get.

Cheers. Went with RH because of a friend, but he’s not exactly savvy either. I’ll check around.

I use Charles Schwab for my Roth IRA and an individual account. Easy to move money from my checking into my Schwab account. Easy to buy and sell after doing it once. My coworker just set up with E-Trade. She is not tech savvy at all. I helped her buy her first stocks 2 weeks ago and she has it now. She is long term and I told her not to look at it anytime soon.

I'd recommend either of those. Buying and selling stocks online is now free on both platforms.

definitely put stops out on all your positions. never know when you want to sell and cant because your BD's platform is down.
Maybe im misunderstanding your point.

but if the broker is offline then the stop order would either trigger and not fill due to the miscommunication between the exchanges, or it would not trigger at all until the broker relinks with the exchange and then a loss greater than intended would occur once the trigger fills.

am i on the right track?

talking about customer-facing front-ends, like the website, call center. not their actual trading functionality.

Just waiting for the dow to go below 20000 if it is even possible.

I’ve never in my life fucked with the stock market
