Stock Portfolios V2

My BDX purchase has already netted me 11.5% in gains. Boom. Good timing.

For those holding PSEC, I have some questions.

What price did you guys average to and which year did you going into it? I have been looking at it on and off and reading about it since I saw it mentioned in this thread. Not exactly the type of stocks I usually buy so need some input from holders.

Other than the reason that dividend announcement for 2015 is delayed, why do you think it's trading at 2 years low?

EDIT:
Oh yeah, also why did you choose PSEC over other BDCs when you initially invested?

I was interested in it because it was a fast growing, high yielding BDC.

There are other BDCs with a bit of a greater safety margin.

I got in at 10 something. So yeah I am down. I got into it and MAIN around the same time. I saw the high yield, and saw that that it was sustainable even through the recession. Also, if it is cut it will still yield about 8%, which is more than most BDCs can give you.

Going to get into some oil ETFs. Great time to buy.

I am looking for some more exposure to utilities. Anyone have any recommendations? am cool with water as well as elec.
I currently hold some EXC, which is meh, but has a decent yield

Check our PPL & WR

Thanks for the reply :) But when did both of you bought? As in which year?

I bought in this year. I am down but with divs I am almost even already.
The split might be pretty good. Different loans will make up 2 companies and possibly their REIT div will make up the 3rd. Not sure if the first two will stay as BDCs. Be interesting.
They appear to able to cover the div for s good while too. Which is what really matters.
I only hold 43 shares. I am not too g to dump a lot into it. Same with NMM. Nice filed but high risk. So I stay small

I bought earlier this year, and sold a few months later when all the SEC nonsense came around.

Now is the time to buy CVX and XOM! Geez what a hammering they've had the past month.

Fucking A. The market took a big dump today. I had to sell off all my positions and start fresh. :/

Energy is good to get into now. But so are rail and emerging markets!

I will receive about $9k next mnth in my biannual RRSP direct contribution from work.

after reviewing my holdings, I only onw 1 financial, Sun Life.

Any suggestions for financials I could look at? Thinking about Progressive or M&T bank in the US.

Am leaning towards US but ok with CND too. No EU!

Wells Fargo is pretty well run, as far as banks go. They didn't go full retard back in 04-07, so they didn't get as badly beaten. They seem pretty well run, and have a high efficiency ratio
