That's true to a degree, but long term UFC is losing tons of credibility with stuff like this. They're relying on superstars and superfights to make money, I guess the new owners think that's the best idea. However, this isn't pro wrestling and no matter how much you hype someone, they can still lose. Sooner or later, even your average ppv consumer will get annoyed by this shit and will want to watch actual fights, not just the drama. Public opinion matters in anything, and you can see many people are against this shit.
