You guys do understand that a fighter is lucky to take home half of their reported earnings right? The UFC benefits from throwing out public earnings while not telling you how much they actually take home.

Gym fees, taxes, management fees, coaching fees, flying out training partners and coaches to the events, international taxes, cancelled fights after you already spent thousands on your camp, etc

When it’s all said and done they aren’t making anywhere close to that, this is what the UFC wants you to do. You see the big numbers they publicly reveal, but you don’t see how little everyone gets when it’s all said and done.

That’s the UFC HW goat of all people, imagine the vast majority of fighters who won’t ever get PPV points, most will die broke.

The American journal of Sports found that 31.9% of UFC fights will end with a traumatic brain injury(TBI), for example punching someone until their body can no longer function correctly (KO/TKO), many times you can suffer a TBI without being stopped, ala the war between Stipe and JDS, or the concussive shots Francis landed on Stipe in the first fight. Even when your a goat tier fighter, who wins almost all of their fights. You will still end your career with some serious damage.

If you do the math and research the data, if nearly 1/3 of UFC fights will end with a TBI. Stipe has iirc 18 fights in the UFC, 8 world title fights. That’s not including his amateur career in mma and boxing. That’s a lot of fights and a lot of TBI’s being dished out.

If the average American needs around 1.7mil-2.4mil to retire spending 70-80% of their pre retirement income each year, then most fighters are way behind they just don’t know it yet. Because most fighter aren’t gonna be working at 45, let alone 65. We like to pretend like every fighter can just become a coach post career, but most fighters will have serious issues post retirement that can/will keep them from living the same life as someone without several traumatic brain injuries.

It doesn’t matter who you are, if you aren’t putting away money and investing, that 2-3mil isn’t gonna go as far as you think from age 40-80, especially if your wife doesn’t work, or you are supporting family and friends. Good thing Stipe has a backup job, I’m sure he’s made some good money on the side as a firefighter. But he’s one man, and a super rare case.

The likelihood of losing and suffering a TBI only goes up with age, if your still fighting into your late 30’s and early-mid 40’s, the cost to benefit ratio really starts to work against you. You have to get in and get rich quick, squirrel away a few million and find a backup hobby you can do to support your lifestyle post retirement.

Hobby is key because automation is slowly being worked into the American workforce, meaning the workforce will be gutted. So you won’t be able to retire and work at a warehouse making a livable wage, wages will be stagnant and that’s assuming you get hired with your injuries(hip injuries, back injuries, memory issues, etc)


The UFC should be teaching these fighters and training them for post retirement life, but of course none of that benefits their bottom line. Their contractors right? So who cares smh. So 95% or more of the roster will be back in the workforce after 20-30 years of wear and tear and a dream.

Really Ask yourself why the fuck Rashad evans is coming back? Or why Forrest griffin looks WAY older than 42!?! Or if Chuck and Tito could even work menial jobs to pay for expenses??
