Stipe made Ngannou look silly in there and proved all the haters wrong.

Seemed like all anyone was thinking leading into this fight was that Ngannou was going to KO Stipe in the first and make it look easy.

Stipe ate everything Ngannou could land(while Francis had the energy) and absolutely handled him in there.

So much for the genetic freak with 5 years training beating a well rounded champion like Miocic.

I guess you only read threads that said that. There were plenty of people who said the opposite.
Nice try to look intelligent.

The problem is the hype. Stipe has fought the very best at HW, showed he is well-rounded, can take the fight anywhere. He lost to Struve....which happens at HW. And had a war with a still somewhat unbroken JDS. Other than that, he has dominated everybody at a high level.

Ngannou appeared as a puncher...and that's it. Also, KOing Reem isn't really the credential to become the HW champ. A lot of fighters KOd Reem.

The third round is where things went really bad, and I had the fight ending by TKO for Stipe in the 3rd. I'm surprised Ngannou survived that, and hope he becomes a more versatile HW in the future.

But the UFC once again tried to wash people's brains into believing a hype, and it was wrong. Nothing new to see here.

1) Many MMA-knowledgeable people were picking Ngannou to win, me included. It doesn't mean we're haters. I didn't hate Stipe; I just thought that he wouldn't be able to survive Francis' first-round onslaught. Many picked Stipe too, and you guys look smart now, but you will lose your shirts if you think now you're smart enough to become rich betting on fights.

2) "Stipe ate everything Ngannou could land." Stipe ate maybe 2 big punches the whole night. Stipe's defensive skills were spectacular.

3) This genetic freak without much training had just annihilated the #1 HW contender.

yeah, it REALLY looked like Ngannou had zero business being in their with Miocic. I'm stoked Miocic won, but fuck, I feel pretty bad for Ngannou.

Do you think last night proved Francis would be better off switching to being a boxer instead of an MMA fighter? How much does he really do as part of his offense besides use his fists?

I was adamant that Ngannou would win...

I've never been more wrong.

Still, considering the positions Stipe had him in, he should have been able to get the finish.

stipe has haters?!?!
The UFC brass wanted him to lose.

The oddsmakers had the champ as the underdog.

Looked like alot of people were betting against him.

"Haters" might be too strong a word, but he had alot of people counting him out.
