Steve Percival New Worst Ref?

If he was done why was he ready to go in the 3rd? They could've stopped it between rds if he was done but they didn't.
He was probably concussed. Fighters fight. The refs job is to protect them at all costs, even from themselves. The guy was flattened out in a full back mount eating like 50 unanswered blows. FFS

So why wasn't it stopped inbetween rds then? Lombard looked fine at the start of rd 3 IMO

Are you listening? I'm not talking about BETWEEN ROUNDS. I said IN round 2. Any other ref stops that fight. I enjoyed watching Hector catch a beating but that was ridiculous.

Percival did an excellent job, he knew there wasn't much time left in the 2nd and let the fight come to it's natural conclusion in the 3rd.

Honestly, as hard as it is to stop a fight with little time left on the clock, that should never be the concern of a ref. Lombard was getting battered and not defending himself at that moment. That's all it should take if we're really erring on the side of fighter safety.

in addition there's also this guy

Percevel fucked up a fight in Australia about 4 or 5 cards back early in the night and he got fucking booed out of the building any time he came up on screen for the rest of the fights.
Can't remember what card it was, must have been at least 18 months ago now.

Uh you said he was done in rd 2. If he was really done in rd 2 why was he ok to come out and fight in the 3rd? You do know the ref can stop the fight between rds right? The ref went and warned Lombard after the 2nd that he needed to fight back. Lombard didn't fight back in the 3rd and it was stopped immediately.

I disagree, but I don't really have fighter safety as a high priority when it comes to stoppages. There's a lot of money and entire careers on the line in prize fighting and the fighters deserve a natural conclusion to their fights.

He was done due to the fact his chances at winning were completely diminished. And yes, I do know the rules. Quite well actually. I also know a full back mount with a flattened out opponent eating 50 or so unanswered blows should always end a fight. Regardless of the guy not being knocked out you are talking about safety here.

That's okay for you not to have a high priority for it, you are not an official. However that is what the ref gets paid for and the job he has to do. Fighter safety is rule number one.

There was a minute left in the round. Lombard won the first rd 10-8 and would've had a easy 10-9 second rd if he hadn't of screwed up going for the ankle lock. The ref gave him the benefit of the doubt to keep going, it was perfectly justified I think.

Again the time left in a round is not the official's concern and should have no bearing on that call. It's cool you have your opinion I am not knocking you for it I just disagree completely with it.

Lombard was not intelligently defending himself and was barely moving and eating 40+ strikes to the head.

I'm glad the people defending Percieval aren't refs because we would have people dying in the octagon. Like seriously, you guys are fucking irresponsibly dumb. Fighters are supposed to defend themselves intelligently and a refs priority is to protect the fighters. Show me where Lombard was defending himself .

I enjoyed seeing Lombard lose by the way but he was done.

Fight should have been stopped on multiple occasions in round 2. Lombard was flattened out in a back mount eating punches like Honda eats hot wings.
The difference between the first and second, Magny was trying to improve position while trying to defend, Lombard just laid there blocking with one hand getting rained on from both sides.
Lombard took massive head trauma because of Percival
