How Did You Score the Fight?

What did Yan do in that round by comparison? I'll wait.

That's not how 10-8s work. There has to be damage done. A fighter receiving a 10-8 should be, at least, somewhat close to getting a finish. Stalling and control with no further damage isn't quite that.

We'd have to agree to disagree here.

he clearly won rounds 2 and 3.

Yan won 1 4 and 5.

the 20 missed take downs should give a pretty clear picture the fight did not go how Sterling wanted outside of rounds 2 and 3
That should tell you that Yan is not that good. Dillashaw will dominate the division again anyway.

Sterling better watch his boring ass because Dana won't be doing him any favors

LOL

You think that Sterling doesn't know the UFC hates him?

Dana reneged on his promise of title shot after he beat Sandhagen and waited until Sandhagen beat Moraes to give it to him.

LOL Yan strikes were mostly blocked dude, or shoulder hits

Aljos leg kicks and body kicks were way more significant
Aljo didn’t land anything significant. Yan was the aggressor landing the more significant shots . Sterling landed good on the ground but not on the feet.

Why are we acting like Aljo didn't throw any GNP and wasn't in the most dominat position of MMA for over 3 minutes and wasn't fishing for submissions? I'm fine with that being a 10-9, but the argument exists for a 10-8 under the new criteria. Yan landed 4 significant strikes and wasn't offering anthing.

10-9. Clear as day

So if a fighter punches and misses you give him points for "trying" to win the fight? Sorry that's not how it works in sports. This is not elementary school where we give out awards for "trying". In basketball when you miss the basket you don't get a point for "trying" to win. Be logical.
A missed punch does no damage. A failed armbar does.

You'd have to be a casual or bias to score that fight for Yan.

By screaming robbery, you're making yourself look stupid.

Boring fight, Sterling is the worst. So unlikeable.

he clung on to a mans back for dear life for 10 minutes and couldn’t even threaten a finish. YAN Actually probably damaged Stirling more with backwards punches from that position then Stirling could the whole fight. The damage to Stirlings ego from getting boo’d is a loss enough, maybe 50 cents can make him feel better with some pampering though

He point fought that fool to the shadow realm. Back of the line Petr!

Be sure to check him out in one of the Power series episodes only on Starz

No I don’t think you know how it works. Judges go by octagon control and SIGNIFICANT STRIKES. Yan was chasing him and landed strikes at a higher accuracy. No way anyone with a brain would give Aljo that round.

Aljo landed more significant strikes according to the stats, 19-13.

“Fighting area control is assessed by determining who is dictating the pace, place and position of the match.” Fighting Area Control” shall only to be assessed if Effective Striking/Grappling and Effective Aggressiveness is 100% equal for both competitors. This will be assessed very rarely.”

That’s the exact wording of the actual criteria. So octagon control is not a factor and should not be judged unless all other factors are 100% even, which they weren’t as Sterling landed more often.

I was also confident that Yan won Rd1, but a bunch of people seem to have scored it for Sterling.

Maybe I weighed the octagon control too much.

octagon control doesn't matter when the opponent is landing 30% more strikes.

Yan fucked himself over so bad with that illegal knee last year.
I scored 3-2 for Yan initially, but it was a close fight and I'm not mad about the outcome.
Meh fight though.

That should tell you that Yan is not that good. Dillashaw will dominate the division again anyway.

hes old broken and not on PEDs anymore.

Sterling as champ is the easiest path for Aldo to get the 135lb belt tho,

Lol @ figure 4 being "the most dominant position" in mma. Lmao. Holy shit. A position you can barely finish anyone In. Guess we got the new calf kicks.

He was punching and going for the sub though. He wasn't simply stalling in the position. It's not like he could have advanced that position any further.
If he couldn't advance any further than that shows it wasn't dominant enough for a 10-8 or possibly should have even been stood up

Given the UFC scoring criteria r1 should have been scored Yan
That being said r2 should have been 10-8.

47-47 was the rightful score.
48-47 yan was the UFC score without a 10-8.
48-46 Sterling was my score

10-8 rounds usually consist of a guy getting pounded into a bloody pulp while barely showing the ref they are intelligently defending.

Dana still wants that Russian market.

Problem is none of them know what they're talking about anyway. Either end. They have no validation.

Better than Yan doing nothing at all until the last 2 rounds where he just tried to LnP for those rounds

Yan was controlled & outstruck most of the fight by Stirling
