"Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown has reached a $750,000 settlement with the city of Milwaukee for his lawsuit accusing police officers of an unlawful race-based arrest and excessive force in January 2018, The Athletic's Shams Charania has learned.

Along with the financial settlement, the city of Milwaukee would in a statement admit to a constitutional violation and commit to incorporate changes to the Milwaukee Police Department standard operating procedures. The changes must be implemented within 180 days of execution of the settlement agreement.

“Because of the unpredictability of a trial, and the City’s risk for exposure to compensatory and punitive damages, as well as additional attorney fees and costs, we recommend that this matter be settled for that amount,” Milwaukee city attorney Tearman Spencer and assistant city attorney Robin Pederson wrote Wednesday in a letter to the city’s Common Council requesting authorization to execute the settlement agreement.

Brown was waiting for a citation for being double-parked across two accessible parking spots outside a Walgreens on Jan. 26, 2018, and filed a complaint stating he was unlawfully arrested with a Taser and because he is African-American. He was not charged in the incident. Brown filed a lawsuit formally in June 2018. In September 2019, the city of Milwaukee offered Brown a $400,000 settlement that did not include an admission of liability"

in b4 "libtard james should shut up. athletes have nothing to worry about"

Good for him. They treated him like a criminal for a parking violation, clear abuse of power. He could've dragged it out and made them look even worse if he wanted to with the current climate.

This is why Sterling Brown kneels. He can now cry for joy using $1000 bills he found in back pocket

good on him too, to not accept the $400,000 settlement sans admission of liability

the guy's on a 3 year, 3.8 million dollar contract. good amount of money for a late second-round pick. didn't need this lawsuit for the cash lol

Athletes blow their cash all of the time. Most of them end up broke when they retire.

double-parked across two accessible parking spots

Does that mean handicapped spaces? If so.... that's a tazing.
