When asked by Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, Thompson said he believes if the fight was elsewhere — like Las Vegas — he would have ended up ahead on the scorecards. “Wonderboy” said he believes judges “could do better.”

“I know close fights are very hard in the moment,” Thompson said. “But there seems to be a lot of that happening recently. But I think [I would have won if the fight was not in Liverpool]. I really do. I think so. Darren is definitely a tough guy, man. He’s a very confident person. Definitely built for the fight game. And yeah, I think I would win that fight.”

One possibility, Thompson said, is that the wild, pro-Till crowd could have swayed the judges toward Till during certain exchanges.

“You’ve gotta be professional out there,” Thompson said. “I’d like to think of the judges as being professional and not thinking that and them focusing on the fight and not what the fans are doing. I literally didn’t hear a damn thing out there. I didn’t hear the crowd. People were saying that every time a punch would whiff by you — not even make contact — the crowd was going crazy. I don’t know. That could be a possibility, yeah.”

Despite the controversial decision, “Wonderboy” had very little reaction when the scores were read. He said he was already mentally preparing himself for a Till victory in the moment leading up to the cards being read. There was no tantrum or even a scowl.

“Once they make that announcement, I’m not gonna go out there and pitch a fit,” Thompson said. “I’m gonna take it like a man and be a gentleman. I’m gonna shake my partner’s hand and that’s how it should be done. I can’t go back and change it.”

Thompson, 35, said he spoke with UFC president Dana White afterward and expressed his desire for a rematch against Till. If not, he’d like to face either Colby Covington or Rafael dos Anjos, depending on the result of that UFC 225 interim title bout.

Shout out to WB taking the L like a man <mma4>

he is correct

Wonderboy would murder Dos Anjos. I hope that happens next and Till vs Usman.

He sounds like he is still ok with his fighting style..

Glad he lost.

i just watched the fight again. I'm even more convinced the judges had it correct. Wonderboy didn't do enough to win the close rounds.

Nobody wants to see the rematch.

as for the Covington/RDA fight.. presumably the winner fights Woodley. The loser seems more likely to fight till at this point.

He's probably right.

There's a LONG history of UFC UK cards - the judges always go for the UK fighter, against foreign fighters, in close main events.

Dude is classy but if he's going to fight like that again i hope he loses more decisions

His style sucks sh!t women self- defense karate kick, punch & run. There's no mix in his mma no toolbox of mma weapons just run & gun point fighting karate, I've been saying forever he's highly overrated...

Till had only drop of the fight and controlled the center of the octagon most of the time in a fight that had essentially 0 grappling. Till won the fight regardless of location. The weight cut should be more of an issue, if anything.

The truth is, Wonderboy Thompson had a lot on the line in that fight and he didn't assume any risk at all to make a statement win. He's great at self defense but he doesn't seem to have a lot of edge as a fighter right now. I think the loser of the RDA Covington fight could definitely make some sense.

i love wonderboy, but you gotta be more active if you want these close decisions buddy.

Maybe you'd have more chance to win if you would throw strikes instead of feints all the time. Backpedalling and faking a strike aint gonna win you fights, in Liverpool, or Vegas.

Im all for counterstriking, when you actually counterstrike. This is one of the fights where I agree with the result instead of the majority. I had Till winning, and I was siding with WB.

So his excuse for losing is that the judges are corrupt?

Class act.

I don't know why everyone is saying Wonderboy won. Darren Till was the aggressor the entire time and made Thompson look weak. I absolutely despise Till, I think he might go down as one of the most hated of all time, but I know he won that fight. And fuck no, I am not rewatching that bullshit either.

I guess of him and Holly Holm was booked on the same card you wouldn't watch it?
