Nice guys finish last Stephen. Pay the guy ya pink goof.
They should definitely pay him for all of that. That said, unless you actually fight on the card, you're not getting the full purse. Paid in full for making weight? Nah. Set that precedent and watch the less scrupulous guys make weight and subsequently get "injured".They should pay the man.
Remember how much is cost for a fighter to make it to the fight. Paying coaches, trainers, gym membership, equipment, nutrition plans, travel and hotel expenses etc. All that stuff usually comes out a fighter's pocket and he did all those things just for the fight to get cancelled. It's fucked up.

If I worked for 3 months and did my part on the job, and one of my co-workers came in (on the last day)and wrecked it….I’d still expect to get paid. And so would all of you, so stfu already.

Well, more shit to fix in contracts. The bout contract is in Utah isn't it? Not Vegas. Example of a boxing contract in NY " PROMOTER agrees that if the subject bout is cancelled without BOXER’s consent due to no fault of BOXER or BOXER’s agents and so long as BOXER is ready, willing and able to participate in the scheduled bout at the time of such cancellation, as determined by the Commission, BOXER shall be paid by PROMOTER no less than fifty (50%) percent of the agreed upon compensation, unless otherwise directed or authorized by the Commission, pursuant to 19 NYCRR §209.11."
Can't even argue there, numerous "ex-contractors" have felt it.You fuck with the Baldfather and you pay the ultimate price
Shill….die slowly. In a lot of pain. And far away from me.If you were building a house and you got together all the plans, all the permits, all the contractors, all the materials, and were completely ready to go, but then the house never actually got built, should you still expect to get paid? You put in all that work and "did your part," but you didn't actually fulfill your contract. The house isn't built, regardless of how much preparation was involved.
Apt username.Shill….die slowly. In a lot of pain. And far away from me.
People will still cut for same days, people already cheat hydration tests. Your third idea is interesting, no clue if it would work. I'd say 5 lbs fuck em. You have a 5lb swing from weighins to fight time. There's a few ideas that could lessen some of the problems.
Same day weigh ins, hydration tests. Maximum alloted weight gain post weigh in.
I'm sure there will be some growing pains and actually more fights will get canceled in the first following months but it would in time alleviate a lot of the issues.
I mean safety alone is a big reason and reason enough in my eyes.
Show money means showing up in the Octagon and fighting. Not the weigh in.
The training costs are usually all paid as part of a percentage from the purse. He never earned a purse here. 5-10% of $0 is $0.
Hotels and travel are all covered by the UFC. Not by the fighter unless they want to bring in extra people beyond their included coaches/team mates.
Wasted time and effort sure, but not necessarily waste of anything monetarily related. And even that the UFC generally tries to re-book you pretty quickly in these types of scenarios.
Its not rare enough to have to pay dude every time it happens. I would say its more rare that the fight doesnt happen anyway, and if they def paid every fighter their show money if they refuse the fight, alot more fighters would refuse the fight, which doesnt help the UFC.Since missing weight is pretty rare
so all his coaches and training partners, etc worked for free? I think people are still expecting to get paid for months of work
Mma agents are complete crap, how the hell do they not have a guarantee for cases like this in their contracts.
