People are good with closing the border, ending DEI, getting men out of women's sports and locker rooms, deporting criminal aliens, putting economic sanctions / tariffs on nations that don't fair trade with us, reducing regulations, reducing taxation, reducing the Federal bureaucracy, reducing crime... So many on the Left are completely stupid to think people outside of the Red Hat crowd that goes to his rallies, "worship" Trump, that you'll end up burning down your own side and alienating most Americans in the process. Even though I disagree with you, I certainly don't feel that you're a scumbag. The fact is that many GOP candidates (Rubio, Cruz, Walker) had similar policies to him, but what made Trump stand out was his unpolished populist messaging. He spoke plainly to working class Americans and said what he felt and didn't give a shit about political correctness. Ya, he sounded like a moron at times, but it was still a more palatable than career politicians speaking words that someone else wrote for them. This is what Newsom is trying to accomplish with his new edginess, because he knows that he's got no chance "Going high, when they go low" anymore.

I had my choice in the Primary 2016 as: Cruz, Rubio, Paul, Carson... and then Trump. I think... could have jumbled 2-4, but Trump was about 5th to me, because he's an asshole.

Newsom embracing the 20% favorability issues as does most of the Democrats makes him undetectable nationally. It's a shame that Fetterman has health issues, he could actually have huge national appeal. Also, killing off Tulsi Gabbard to the point that she left the party was a huge loss. Basically the Democrats chose Hillary Clinton over a solid up and comer. I think they guy Democrats should really be looking and pushing is Wes Moore, Governor of Maryland. He started out pushing stupid Woke shit, realized it was destroying his state and went far more pragmatic. If he doesn't bend over for the Woke crowd nationally, he could be a huge hit. We'll see. These shithead tactics of Trump and Newsom are not appealing to most. I don't think Trump won because of them, he won in the General Election because he embraced the 80% issues and is actually a pragmatist. He may have won in the primaries, because he was an asshole.

Newsom is nationally recognized and yes his poll numbers have been slipping, but with the Dems in California at least it looks like his poll numbers go up when he gets in battles with Trump and MAGA. That's probably why he went with the insult (though he really should have rethought "cuck") as his strategists saw that Dems seem to like combativeness. Wes Moore could be a star, but he's still not that well known nationally. Shapiro is a moderate and unifying that's proven in swing states. Whitmer and Polis possibly but they'd have to do something drastic to get more connection with voters outside of their state. Buttigieg is a great speaker and can be combative when he wants to, but there's no way the entire country will vote for a gay guy right now. And then there's AOC, who's actually polling really high right now. She's the one that can probably have an Obama like run but she may just be too polarizing nationally. A Newsom-AOC ticket would be really interesting as they're pretty far ideologically. I don't think it would ever work though as Gavin would try and bang her for sure lol.

A lot can happen in 2-3 years and I guess we'll see shortly.
